Hi Sergejs. We used .080 inch thickness on this project. Generally that's all you need for an item this short and compact. Some makers prefer to use .060 inch thickness for knife sheaths, but we feel that .080 works better when you have an integrated belt loop as part of the design. It makes it less flexible. DIY is the way to go if you can build it yourself. In fact, you can make it for $5 dollars if you don't use Aircraft Aluminum and a CNC. These are designed to create perfect replications, and to cool quickly for mass production. I probably made the first thermoform belt loop jig ever, over 30 years ago. I still have it. I used 3/8 inch G10 strips and a door hinge. It still works great. It's a POS compared to the Diaz, though. It'll make a usable belt loop, but I wouldn't want to use it all day long. Most guys using the Diaz are professional holster makers. They're making 100's of loops a day/week. The cool-down aspect of the Diaz is priceless in mass production.
Hi Jeffrey. The aluminum jig is designed for mass belt loop production. If you only need to make a few, I wouldn't recommend it. However, if you have some aluminum bar stock at your disposal, it does work great for edge forming and heat reduction.
