perspective is such a hard subject to condense into a decent length video, I think mark has summarized this one wonderfully. Thank you for making this video. on a Separate note: Love the bob Ross attitude " putting a Happy little sail boat"
I am in awe of your telepathy power! Literally just yesterday I sat down and I found myself thinking of how weak my environmental art is and how I should really start practising perspective. So I watched your older 2-point perspective video (the star wars one!) And I sorta drew a landscape using that which I just OK with, honestly. And then you must have uploaded when I was sleeping cuz you know- time zones. So I saw this today and I love this tutorial just as well.. I like the simplicity of it and I like the little reflections on the desk. Also that little Bob Ross comment, I adore you deeply for that
Architecturarelly needs to go with your "Scurf"... soon, you'll have your very own dictionary :D The Mark Crilley Dictionary (with a mixture of lessons à la "how to make manga" and how to learn to speak the Crilley language) ^_^
I stumbled on your videos last week. Just for fun, I like to draw little cartoons every once in a while depicting just myself or me and my wife. The cartoons have zero accurate perspective and are terrible but still funny. After applying the techniques I have learned from your videos, my terrible little cartoons are now totally awesome. They are still cartoony looking but the realism that I am achieving with proper perspective has helped them take on a whole new life. Thank you for the lessons.
Después de todos estos años que llevo dibujando y tratando de entender cómo dibujar en perspectiva al fin entendí el como, gracias Mack, en serio eres el mejor, así no hable inglés siempre veré tus vídeos.
Hi markcrilley I just wanted to say thank you, your videos have helped me so much, and you have helped me to achieve my goals, and for that I am greatful. I know now that when I grow up I wan't to become a Police Forensics Sketch Artist, help make the world a better place. So thank you🙂
Many thanks for these videos. You're making relearning drawing nearly painless. Btw, my order for the Chibi book originally had a delivery date of March 22. Amazon sent an update with delivery expected next Wednesday (2/14). Happy Valentine's Day indeed! 👍
14:00 I'm so glad you did that! i.e. Putting something that is juxtaposed to the other perspective lines. It's been a major problem for me to figure this out!
ive done a bit of experimenting with drawing things that dont conform to the dots in a perspective drawing, i find it much easier to draw the framwork for a larger rectangular prism that DOES conform to the dots, perhaps with some 3d grid lines within it, and then contain the angled rectangular prism that DOESNT conform to the dots (in this case the book) within the larger prism
Hey, I’ve got an idea for a video. I’ve been practicing drawing motorcycles for an idea I’ve been working on, but I just can’t quite get them right. It’s a kind of science fiction/ fantasy/ apocalypse setting, and these four main characters all ride their own motorcycles. Motorcycle help? Please?
May be 1 or 2 or more points of perspective, and more others kind with differents angles but this one with points of perspectives is the most used by the artists (just info).. Thanks for your vid it's great
Actually, here's somethin I wanna know. How do you go from paper drawing to printed page? Does it involve using high-end scanners and printers like you could do at home?
U read my mind Mark ;) I often wondered if it were possible to do something in 1-point perspective within a 2-point perspective drawing. Thanks for showing that it is possible ^_^
Would be really interesting to watch a video explaining how to draw this vertical lines accurately, according to the angle of the virtual lens and stuff...
If you make diagonal lines like those for the screen you gotta construct the next using a box. They're not parallel. For the book you'd have to assume another point corresponding to the angle you chose initially, which you didn't. That's why the book looks off.
Its Marky Mark and the eraser bunch... Question Mark... When you say things like "we'll call these left dot lines", and you have a little chuckle... Do you find a lot of the oddity thing you say funny, or cringy? My personal opinion is I find them to often be funny and delightful. I was just wondering when you play these videos back during editting do you sit there thinking... "ugh, did I just say that?, or "HA... that was a good one!".
Cool. Could you make some video's on more random things. Like uh... flowers or uh *looks around room* guitar? Anyway, more everyday items and things would be cool
Mark Im really progressing in animals and Im new to this channel I watch this channel day and night thanks for helping me progress I would really like if you show us how to draw fur. Thank you mark
I'm trying to learn how to use perspective digital tools; I find it's easier for me to do it on paper with a ruler than digitally. Something about using traditional tools....it's just more fun imo 😊
I love the mastering manga series but recently have been straying away and into more of a realistic style, I would love to see a mark crilley book on photo realism.
If I remember correctly, to perfectly close the computer you'd have to build an ellipse with the moving point being the minor axis of this ellipse, or maybe you could just project the keyboard part into the screen part so they have the same proportion, but then it makes the brain work and it's painful uh...
Yes, Crilley you have to do it mathematically accurate ;). Ha, ha, ha. Just kidding! I love how things deform with perspective and placing the book is actually accurate we don't see everything in 2pt perspective all the time. But I learned something!!! :) You don't use all the page for the drawings you live some space for the points. I have to try it. :D
All your scenes of look like you can just walk in and grab them like they Were there! it's AMAZING! (I actually love everything you draw! hehe! ^,^) I was wondering what you did for a living, Because I was wondering how I could continue doing Art outside of just drawing, I want to make a living from it... so I watched a few other videos purposely in search of an answer and saw your an Illustrator! and so, I would see it a Great Honor, if you would please bestow a gift. Your knowledge of how to make a living from Visual arts! :D
it looks so easy when watching this vid but its not :D i can do it well when drawing simple boxes but im struggling when i have to add some elements, and the worst part is human :(
Does this book look weird to you? Because when I'm doing something like this, the object that is not aligned always looks weird. And I never can point a finger on the reason.
I want to know how to draw like an evil kinda condescending looking anime face. I would love if you did a video on that. I'm not quite sure how to draw that expression.
Creatingarte 101 he's done a few, for instance in the playlist which is linked at the top of the description of this video, there're two from 2011 where he did backgrounds in 1-point and 2-point perspective
Wow that was stupid. I was about to be the first one to comment but my phone died right before i was able to send it😂. Great video though. You should do a video on how to draw the inside of a spaceship or a ship from Star Wars. That would be cool.
11comment! if u are reading this mark....i love you so much and i want to be just like you i have almost all of your manga art books! i just want you to know i look up to you! and i mean a lot!
