Any reason why you couldn’t wire the two sets of sockets in series?

You make things complicated don't you ! Frustrating! all you need is a dremel and disc cut out the socket what is the reason you're using multi-strand wire for? You want to be using 2.5mm wire used in the wall strip that back better than multistrand lower inductance. What is going on with your drill it's way too slow you need to fast speed for metal. A little tip for your plug don't cut the off because that is beneficial, but heat up a bar or drill bit that is the size you want not too hot not red hot but hot that's enough 200 degrees Celsius and just soften melt it to a wider size I believe that plastic should melt it's not the hard plastic. You don't listen do you I don't know what's the matter with you man I told you last time you have to do it both ends with the Earth braid that is the only proper way to shield the cable from EMI interference whoever is tell you different is wrong!!! Always has to be both ends and ideally the plastic plug as well please listen. you're giving wrong and bad advice to people.
