“We could do it with maths, but who has time for that” is pretty much my DIY motto 😆

Excellent video! Been thinking about this recently. Just a shame about timber prices at the moment. Hopefully they'll come down soon! 👍

Nicely done. I largely went by that construction, but at the base at the front secured a thin aluminium strip going flat across to strengthen the frame underneath so that the bins can be wheeled out easily. Very helpful video Joe many thanks.

Fantastic video, thank you for posting this, I think I shall be mirroring your tutorial to build my own, we need storage for bins for when we renovate. How much timber did you have to purchase for this build?
@WatchShareSave

Thanks! I'm really glad you liked it. The amount of timber will vary depending on the size of your bins :) Joe

I did all this from pallets. Then a raised bed for my garden as a roof. Which gives use to the area for my garden and adds to the esthetics.

Why didn't you jist drill a hole in the handles would of been easier because i think over time the weather is going to get the better of them sticky pads and eventually they going to drop off good video tho good effort

Looks really nice that 👍🏻 I’m thinking of doing one for a friend of mine . The ground where its going slopes about 70 mm over 2.5 metres and 50 mm front to back would this stop the doors shutting properly?
@WatchShareSave
@WatchShareSave 3 года назад
Thanks William! The slope left to right is likely to put uneven pressure on the door which would make them quite awkward to close. You can use blocks under the frame to level it but that would make getting the bins in and out harder too. It's a tough one. If it were me, I would make the frame as normal and try it in place as is. See if the doors can cope with it, if they seem fine, great! If not, I'd level the frame off and add small ramp to the front so the bins can roll in and out easier :) Joe

What was the price just for a rough idea please mate?
@WatchShareSave
@WatchShareSave 3 года назад
I really didnt want to include how much this one cost me personally because it is ridiculously inflated. It cost me just shy of £400. This came down to supply issues and price hikes which are really bad at the moment. I can say with confidence that it shout have been around the £100 to make really. That was my plan going into the project. Give it time and I'm sure the price and stocks will get back close to normality :) Joe

hi Joe, great video and an interesting project I'm looking at creating this for 4 bins but I think I can follow the instructions close enough and just add in the extra dimensions, however I wanted to ask about costs - I see in the comments that you expected this to be around £100-£150 but due to supply issues it was more like £400. Where are we now with timber prices please? What would I expect to pay? Thanks, Matt

Would it be better to use treated wood or wouldn’t it matter if I would be using feather boards as the cladding

Nice video. I am curious thought about the praticallity as it seems that the bin lid cannot be open totally and when having a big bin bag I would think it would be a struggle as on my exact same bin I need to fully open the lid. It seems that the angle is limiting the opening which seems the limiting factor. Any thought

All you had to do was use a thin strip of aluminium across the bottom, won't rust and wheels go over easy. You could attach a hinged stick across the top of the doors to hold the lid open so its always on hand when you need it.
