I'm from America love the English accent and could listen to you and your daughter talk all day. If those who say you talk to much can't see that this video is more about sharing time with and having fun with your daughter than making bird treats than I think they have missed the most important lesson in this video.
I moved into my house 8 months ago. We inherited a dandelion patch to begin with. I have now turned the garden into something nice to look at and one the birds and bees seem to love. We never got any wildlife here at first. Yesterday I counted 27 sparrows, 3 magpies, 3-5 different tits, the odd wood pidgeon and I think a chaffinch. They come for their breakfast every morning now, and then come later in the afternoon and clear my plants of insects like affids etc. Its amazing how fast it can all happen. I love it when the starlings turn up, theyre like a bunch drunken scoundrels misbehaving. Love it. on the video - i think your dog is getting jealous. lol
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I copied yours step by step & mine is now setting in the fridge. Look forward to hanging it on my tree. Thanks again ❤️
Instead of those bags of general seed, I use mealworms, sunflower seeds, chopped peanuts and 'no mess' song bird mix.. because those bags of general bird seed are just 99% wheat and corn.. total garbage and only liked by pigeons and doves.
Thanks for the information. I’m in the US (Oregon state) and it’s been in the 30-40F (-1 to 4.4 Celsius) days and nights are colder. I think I’ll make some of these feeders for random birds that fly by. I’m not sure I can find lard in the stores.
Hi Cindy - you're right about the milk - but as AJ has said - mild cheese is OK because it is fermented. She got her info directly from the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds website - see her comment below. This is what the RSPB say: Milk and coconut Birds can digest fermented dairy products, such as cheese. Mild grated cheese can be a good way of attracting robins, wrens and dunnocks. Warning: never give milk to any bird. A bird's gut is not designed to digest milk and it can give them serious stomach upsets or even kill them. Give fresh coconut only, in the shell. Rinse out any residues of the sweet coconut water from the middle of the coconut before hanging it out to stop the build-up of black mildew. Warning: never use desiccated coconut as it may swell once inside a bird and cause death.
I got my information from the RSPB please see link scroll down to fat cakes www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/advice/how-you-can-help-birds/feeding-birds/safe-food-for-birds/
