This is an instructional video on how to make small black powder rockets that explode.
The materials used in the video are highly flammable and should be treated with the highest respect so if something happens it's not my fault.
The black powder is very fine and has been ball milled.
It uses the normal ratio and i used balsa wood for that batch.
The delay mix only has to be blended for a short period of time in a coffee grinder because you want a slow burning composition that will make the rockets last longer before exploding.

Great tutorial, I’m making some fireworks for the upcoming Canada day, I’ve made plenty of mortar fireworks before so this is next on the list.

Hey.. i tried this rocket but it's goes like a fountain a my rocket produce a lot of residue i want a reason for this .. how can I make a good black powder ??

I did exactly like you, but the black powder in the rocket just exploded on the ground every time. That is what black powder is expected to do if properly made. But when I mixed the black powder with a good amount of dextrin I got it to work. Maybe I shouldn't make the rocket powder with willow charcoal.🙂

You’re actually the first person to ask about that. It was a pretty bad burn that I got from a failed firework, why you should be careful with this stuff because that shit hurt

@@afbennett3038 my left thumb was burned up crispy critter style and still had peeling skin then I lit some magnesium ,dark aluminum, glitter aluminum perchlorate comp and reburnt the dawg shit out of it again I have neuropathy so I can pretty much reach into frying bacon grease and not feel it ,it looked gnarly though. My ol`lady could give a rats ass less too, its a good time for me ,I just laugh and laugh {blue geltab} ran out of orange...

Onwouldntnmale that much flash or would I be banging around with it. You must want to really lose a body part or worse dude,do you not understand how easily a reaction can occurs from impact,friction,static and more? Only make a few gs at a time and be safe about it.you don't need a 100 gram batch of flash for tiny rockets. I make rockets a good 10-15 times the size of these and header that u can most like for close to 60 of your rocket/header into. It works fine with only a gram r son of black powder I make myself. No reason to be ignorant and not being mean but think safer if your going to play with explosives,especially flash powder

Matthew Picou it’s not perchlorate flash powder chill. It’s potassium nitrate based and it’s not friction sensitive (I’ve tested it)

@@afbennett3038 can't get mad if I'm concerned for safety,just want to make sure he understands how dangerous flash is. It brought the thought of how many people u see on here ripping consumer fireworks apart,taking flash and stars with comps they don't know the comp of,mixing without knowing if it'll have a bad reaction,ban got it and using open flames right onside of it all. Didn't realize it was kno3 based at first so thanks for correcting but still thay is a lot of flash for those tiny rockets. I know u need a boosts or flash in smaller shells depending on construction but just don't want to see or hear some one else got hurt from carelessness. You are right about it though,kno based isn't as sensitive to friction

Matthew Picou I don’t rip commercial fireworks apart, I’m not an idiot. I understand how to handle these materials I’ve been doing it for 2 years. I know I’m young but I know how to stay safe.

@@afbennett3038 I've been doing it myself close to 12 years, and I'm happy you have a decent understanding. I always get concerned with people on here being idiots and not safe so I get worried when anyone messes with chems and comps other than the basic bp. Seen and heard a lot of crazy things in my years doing it lol but keep it up and hope you do more. Have you tried making spinners/helicopters yet? I got a few to work really good but if u don't angle the nozzle just right,they either won't spin at all or they'll flip upside down and get stuck like my last 2 did. Also have u found a decent way to make ttime/delay fuse from black match? The closets I got was either scotch tape around the bm or a strip of aluminum foil kinda tight around it. Don't like buying Cisco or any fuses when I have everything to make it myself already. Also did notice your age or if your young.Ik, be 29 this year

Matthew Picou when you say helicopters do you mean girdolas. I’ve never really tried anything as complicated as that I mainly just do ball shells. I tend to just use visco because black match is quite dangerous in that it can skip sections of the fuse and cause premature ignition. Black match is also very dependant on the quality of your black powder so if you made a slower version it might just end up not working.
