Good idea, the next step is how to use sealing material to prevent water leaking or entering the boat ? Using plastic paper ,silicone glue ,black road tar ,... etc ? In stone age ,primitive human being ( millions years ago ) using sea weed grass to make boat or canoe ,later improve to using big tree wood trunk, cut out to boat shape ,and today high tech people using fibre glass (expansive) . Good try to use your own technique to make small boat .That is how human keep on continue improvement by learning through mistakes .Good luck .
