Pozdrawiam :)
😫 my bow cracked again when tryied to bend it. I dit it slowly with weight at the end of the limb, and one without. I steamed almost an hour. My first one was a ceder tree. Second try was Ash… What am i doing wrong? Maybe not steaming it strongly?
My latest bow I was making was out of an ash board. I made sure the growth rings were straight all through the board. Plus it was a beautiful center cut. I was almost done with the tillering when it busted. I'm going to try ash once more but hickory and eastern hard rock maple has always done me good so far. Maybe try hickory
Listen bro try either bamboo tree , teak wood , sandalwood.. etc .. and also remember this the bow made-up of unripe bamboo break up easily . Bows made up of fragile bamboo doesn't not possess any elasticity.. so.. yeah but further information you can read a particular book called dhanurvedam written by an Indian sage name vasistha it is completely based on the art of archery.. and you will find it for free in the app Veducation..
So how could you tell a piece of lumber is not twisted before trying to split it ? I've split about 4 different logs of birch, maple and chokeberry and they all twist
The that I use is the main problem for me, its either not flexible enough, making it crack after giving it a good pull or too flexible again making it crack after a good pull
