Money shift is a bit different, that's like when you go down a gear instead of up and over rev the motor. This completed the shift correctly it just snapped the input shaft

I’ve been building mine just like you have yours. The only difference is and I know you don’t like it. It’s an automatic but it’s not a normal automatic. I put a 700 or four TCI race transmission with a 3600 and J hook me up with everything else, put down serious power and I like shift so it’s a manual shift without a clutch so yeah your car is pretty damn fast. Hope to see more of your videos. I appreciate it. We’re not all young, but we’re not all old and dead. I’m a 60 year old hot rotter that likes to build my shit, but didn’t know much about Infiniti so started watching your videos thank you

what made you go closed deck VQ besides more stronger for power, i dont think the open deck VQ failed on you at all? But just before you metnioned the VR38 I was just thinking to myself this due is building an aftermarket VR38 off of the factory VQDE going closed deck since nissan made the VR closed deck from factory for turbo application in the R35 GTR. The NA VQ is open deck aluminum sleeves and costs less to mass produce. Another way is i've heard of open deck but with iron sleeves instead for structural support, thats bascailly combining the RB iron sleeve design into the VQ. Or for even more strength, closed deck plus iron sleeve. The aluminum closed deck sleeve on this basically makes your DE a "VR35", might as well get a stroker kit and go 4.1L past the VR38's 3.8L then you would blow past anything factory from VR38 or GTR standpoint, but you are already doing that with the single turbo and forged pistons and rods. It would be overkill tbh.

I think I get it, the C8 cams probably weigh less than the C9 giving faster valve function and hence more delivery of air and fuel for faster power availability hence tapping into the mid range. Just like a twin turbo feeds more volume of air than a single turbo giving faster and more readily available power in the low to midrange. or its the lobe sizes on the C8 maybe slightly longer than the C9 giving more time for the valves to inject more air and fuel at a given time for faster onset of power. All in all I had no idea Camshafts could affect power like that, but when you think about of course since they control the frequency of fuel and air delivery in to the cylinder head.

It doesn’t go off for shit here man it’s pretty useless here I don’t think cops are running their radars most of the time unless they are doing speed enforcement. It did work like twice for me both times saved my ass from our “state troopers” so it definitely paid itself off but it’s mostly just annoying lmao

There really isn't one, hypothetically the cost at this point lmao. But I did hear someone say higher coolant temps but that's not from some who has one lol. Pretty sure it's only good. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong

none really, in the past it was cooling due to limited coolant flow across the cylinder heads, but now they have ports for that. The reason factories dont so it stock cause its more materials and labor compared to a open deck block. I researched this way back when, people also go iron sleeves and keep it open as well which is cheaper than going closed i think.

@@Anon.G so the cooling ports for the coolant flow just get CNC'd into the new closed deck by the person doing the job, who is obviously going to charge for the extra metal to close the gap and then make the cooling ports. Thats why factory just leaves it open and throws in a sleeve for the cylinder, less metal needs to be used when making bulk so cheaper and less precision cause you dont need to CNC cooling ports. Aluminum isn't that strong for turbo which is why Nissan did a closed deck for the VR engines for more strength, but aluminum is lighter than the traditional turbo iron block engines like the RB so it gives the G35 a weight ratio advantage. The RB is iron block and is closed deck as well from factory so very strong for turbo, but heavy. Because they are aluminum for the VR and VQ you would need a closed deck for sure for more support, with either iron or aluminum cylinder sleeves, but with the RB even though it is closed deck from factory for turbo, even if it was open deck it could still handle a lot of power stock because its an iron block engine. Forged pistons and rods would be needed because they break before the engine itself does in either VQ, VR or RB engines.

Mid range matters more than top end IMO. Top end is only if you going over 160mph which most people don't do. Or if you do plenty of half mile or full mile runs. For 60-130 runs, a good mid range with a decent top end is all you need. Also try maybe a Cosworth intake manifold. That will probably help top end wise.

Couldn’t agree more and yea that manifold was only list but the carbon end tanks are known to crack and billet end tank ones are stupid rare and as it is the manifold costs like 1600+ it’s crazy

@@Unicornpirate lmfao i love that he said that and its funny cuz i didnt spend anything more than what it takes to build a car of this caliber. its like the same amount of money they put into that 370z they were talking about. If anything with the price of a 370z that guys easily got double into his car than me lmao. Right now with this closed deck and hoops, now I would say im going above. Without this extra shit the build is really nothing that complex. some forged internals. turbo kit and fuel system is really all it was.

Sleeves go inside the cylinder and basically replace the cylinder walls creates a stronger surface to contain the cylinder pressures but there are cases of the sleeves falling or moving so it’s rare to see someone do sleeves on VQ these days. Closed deck basically closed off the top of the coolant passages on the outsides of the cylinder to prevent the cylinders from being able to distort or move around under high boost scenarios. Stock VQ sleeves can handle over 800 so this is a better use of the $
