Thanks Adam. I like this very detailed video. As said previously I am 68 and have to be spoon fed and that is exactly what you did in this video. I have downloaded a few other videos which turned out very gibberish to me at times and have to rewind or replay parts a lot of times to be able to follow and just give up at the end. Thanks again.

Adam, this is a video I thumbed up long ago and came and looked at again now thinking it was a 2019 update but finding you'd simply updated the title to say 2019. You don't need to stoop to that sort of thing. Other people do it and no doubt it gets extra clicks for the cost of only a slightly hurt reputation and dent in trust. But it is deceptive and for technical videos in particular, where the world moves forward so quickly, knowing whether something is current or from the year before last is important. Please, change the 2019 to 2017, and also on other videos where you've done similar, I see now I look. Take the hit on the reduced clicks, many of which, like mine, will be meaningless anyway, stand above the crowd and protect your well-deserved good reputation. It's worth far more than a few extra clicks.

I really enjoyed this video and I plan on making some serious adjustments to my website. The one thing I am struggling with is making my website responsive. I adjust something in mobile mode and it adjusts across the board. I didn't think it was supposed to do that. Am I overlooking a setting?

Lots of information to absorb! I have seen quite a few of your videos and they have helped me immensely. I am trying to build a website and have spent HOURS trying to decide what theme and page builder to use. I think from seeing your videos I have decided to use Generate Press with Elementor page builder. Multisite is a really bad idea unless you are a high level WordPress network admin. And there are very few of those with the expertise of multisite. I strongly discourage people from doing it.

Adam, you recommend the use of a child theme in at least one other of your videos to overcome the potential problem of an update to a core theme effecting a site you've built on that theme. Would you recommend a child theme in the case of Astra ? BTW, all of your videos are fricking fantastic, just that some are better than others and this one is right up there !! Many thanks, Bob...

Yes if you anticipate adding custom code, not custom CSS but custom of functions and modifying page templates, you do need a child theme. The good news is you can head over to Astor's website and they have a child theme builder there for you to use.

Thanks Adam. Who knows if I'll ever have custom functions or modify page templates, the latter seems quite possible, but it seems good insurance to use a child theme anyway. Are there any downsides to that ? BTW, for anybody looking for it the Astra child theme builder/generator it is at wpastra.com/astra-child-theme-generator/

Yes it is a good best practice, however, it's becoming less so as time goes on. For example, you used to put custom CSS in a child theme but now it is an option in the customizer.

Thanks for another great video and an in depth look on how to build a business website and the great videos on Elementor and what it can do. Your videos have provided me with the confidence to explore more. I have a question and I hope it's something you can help me find the answer to. If I design a website using a free theme with a page builder and various plugins, how would I go about packaging it all together into a zip file so I could pass it onto others to use in WordPress? I've looked for videos on how to do this but with no joy. Again thanks for the great work you do 👍

The best way to do that is to watch my video on how to move a website. Essentially you are going to use a free plug-in to create a complete backup. Then you can distribute this backup file. This is how I used to distribute these how to make a website templates. But if you watch that video, you'll see how easy it is to do.

I would recommend using the same theme. In a week they are releasing WooCommerce integration and you can use Amazon affiliate links and WooCommerce products.

Yes you can but I don't recommend that Webhost. If you're having trouble with your SSL certificate I would reach out to their support.

Can you please update it for 2020? Now astra sites plug in does not exist anymore. I tried all the plugins with astra and none is like astra sites as you presented. So my work stops at that point. Not being able to continue without that plugin.

Hello Adam. This tutorial is awesome, probably the best i've ever seen. Although, I am using Astra Sites with Elementor and I am having some kind of problem. When I click in the "UPDATE" button to save the changes that i've made in a page, the new layout displays wrong in the real site. There's anything that I can do to fix that?

Adam thanks again for your enthusiasm in sharing information in relation to the Astra theme in this video as well as your Astra review you produced in August. I am currently using GeneratePress with Elementor and in the light of your videos I'm thinking of trying the Astra theme. Apart from Astra free sites, Astra themes, Hooks, Astra Pro are there other Astra plugins you would suggest? I looking forward to watching your future training videos on Astra.

There is also in the Astra agency version, and Astra Pro sites plug-in. So you would not just have the free sites but you would also have Pro sites that leverage all of the features found in the Astra Pro package. Beautiful sites!

This is an awesome video. Just found it whilst trying to learn Astra and Elementor. I signed up to BlueHost in September last year as it was recommended to me by someone else at the time. I have not yet published my website as I 'm still learning how to design it. Should I be looking to change hosts? I think I purchased their 3 year hosting package.

You can stick with them, but if you start noticing performance issues or downtime, then look elsewhere.

Adam, another great video. One thing so far is when you add a plugin it says in the bottom right corner of that plugin that it is untested with your version of WP. Are you worried about that? I always skip over those and look for something comparable. For example, you chose the one that was untested (last update 9 months ago now) when all around that plugin were comparable plugins that were tested.

Every plug-in will say that when the new WordPress update is released. I wouldn't put any weight into that.

You wouldn't put any weight in a plugin that hasn't been updated in now 10 months when there have been 12 Wordpress updates this year? Including 5 security updates? wordpress.org/news/category/releases/ I think you should come up with another choice to put some pressure on some of these lazy authors. This is regarding the plugin WP Mail SMTP. I would think twice before installing this plugin.

Nope I wouldn't. If there is no problem with their plugin after WordPress releases an update, then what is there for them to update?

Sure, if you've been using the plugin all along. But you're telling people to choose the one that hasn't been tested with their version of Wordpress. While choices all around it have been.

Thats a mis interpretation Larry. However, if you feel better choosing a plugin that says that, then that is what you should go with.

Hi Adam, thanks for this tutorial. Astra changed left and right, so at 57:50 the required plugins are now Beaver Builder Plugin (Lite Version), Contact Form 7, SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle and Ultimate Addons for Beaver Builder - Lite. Thought you might want to know. I also deduct Beaver Builder and Elementor are by the same company Astra (or has E been renamed?).

No that's not how it works. Now you have a choice of Elementor or Beaver Builder. So when you are looking at a list of the available websites, there is an option to choose Elementor. It defaults to Beaver Builder.

I also had the same problem at first and I ended up developing the website using Beaver which wasn't so good for me since im used to Elementor. But now after reading your reply I have noticed the Elementor option. Thanks a lot Adam now I can rebuild my website.

Alright, Astra IS a theme and Beaver Builder and Elementor ARE both website builders and in this tutorials, Elementor's used. Just uncertain which company it is. To the Google!

Hello Adam I want to start by saying thank you for your videos. They are both informative and easy to follow. Very refreshing change from others. I have been following the video but when I get to the electrician theme it is asking for beaver builder lite, beaver builder ultimate addons plus siteorigin Widgets Bundle. So I can't download or install until I install those plugins.

There is an option to choose a page builder, just choose elementor.

maybe I am missing something but there is no place to chose the page builder. Unless I import first then chose Elementor instead of beaver?

There is when you see the list of Astra Sites if you look on the top left there's an option to choose between Beaver Builder and Elementor.

What would be better over all using elegant themes lifetime membership for $249 or astra lifetime bonus features along with using elemental to make WordPress sites? I am totally new to Wordpress and been looking at hosting and like the three you mentioned plus looking at is Namehero for hosting. Thanks for all your great input and for us beginners and even people that have been using Wordpress for awhile!! :)
