Now this is what I like, making simple, but useful things, as usually only on your YT. Really love watching your videos and learning something new from you

Thank you Petr! I like complicated projects too, but simple ones are special in their own way.

What I REALLY like about this channel is that, although you are obviously a very good practitioner and craftsman, your tools are really quite basic and traditional. I understand this is a conscious choice, but the lack of a hydraulic press or fancy belt-grinder shows me that I can actually do meaningful work in my little hobby workshop without spending silly money. I really value the approach you have and I think it could work for me. Very inspiring, and I predict this channel will grow and grow.

Thank you Eric! You’re right that the simple toolset is a conscious decision for myself mainly, but I have been acutely aware of how helpful it can be to show folks that much can be done with little as you pointed out. Thanks for watching and for your thoughts!

I'm amazed that you can find the small parts in the leaf pile between stones so quickly. I would have given up before even looking because it enters the void of the abyss territory never to return.

I’ve ran more than one on- looker from my shop with flying HOT pieces. At least the smoke makes it easier to find...😅

Красота именно в простых вещах, кузнечный проектах. Было бы неплохо выковать ложку, вилку, штопор... Спасибо за ручной труд))

Once again, you have proven to do very good work! ... But, the true test of whether the cabinet-latch was done perfectly, is when they are placed on the cabinet-doors.
@AxeAndAnvil

Thanks, but I disagree. As long as everything is lined up properly by me as it was, installation will be a test of the installer’s abilities to install properly. 😁 If it doesn’t work properly, that will be the installer’s fault in this case.

Wonderful video, Jordan and Bo! Very interesting course of procedure for this. I never considered punching the rag out of the hold from the back side! Genius! Also, using the hack saw to cut away material for the handle’s tenon first was a great idea that’s wouldn’t have crossed my mind. Was the handle’s decoration done entirely cold or did we miss part of the heat at the beginning?
@AxeAndAnvil
@AxeAndAnvil 2 года назад
Thank you Josh! If I remember correctly I did that decoration hot. Have to go watch that part and see if my memory is jogged.

Awesome project I was wondering if you have a good source for a brass rule like you used in this video I had one just like it and loved it I had it in back pocket and it snapped I cannot find them anywhere thanks for your time
@AxeAndAnvil
@AxeAndAnvil 2 года назад
Man, I don’t! This is an antique Starrett No. 462 Blacksmith’s Rule, and folds out to 24”. They are not cheap, but you can find them on eBay occasionally. I think it would bend before snapping.

If some one was to forge a pair of those big shears, what would you suggest the stock be? Do you think a leaf spring would be good?
@AxeAndAnvil
@AxeAndAnvil 2 года назад
I personally would forge them in mild steel and laminate high carbon on for the cutting edges. But leaf springs would be great too!
