Making a pair of short (12" long) strap hinges with plate-type pintles. While hinges have historically had both plain curled eyes or forge-welded eyes like these, the forge-welded version is definitely the strongest hinge eye variety. Hinges of this type can be made in fancier styles, but regardless of style, they are stout enough to hold up some pretty heavy doors.
