So, I take it that you are just too lazy to scroll through the video to the part where he gets down to business but NOT too lazy to go COMPLAIN about him NOT GETTING TO THE POINT quick enough!?!?!? You see, simply put, that is what is wrong with the world today!!! It’s full of people just like yourself that will take the time to put out/release/express all this NEGATIVE ENERGY but NEVER takes the time to put out POSITIVE ENERGY!!! Yes, we are all entitled to our own opinions but haven’t you every heard the age-old adage of, “if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all”??? If not, then you may want to remember it right now and start living by it. Yes, you can put your comment down about “getting to the point” but you also could’ve said something like, “NICE VIDEO” or anything positive to go along with your mediocre critique of this man’s video. This man’s video, which by the way, I thought was FREAKING AWESOME to say the least… and that is a huge UNDERSTATEMENT!!! So, moving forward, let’s practice putting out some POSITIVE ENERGY into this negative world we currently reside in!?!?!? Oh, and one last thing… I HOPE I GOT TO THE POINT FAST ENOUGH FOR YOU!!! 😂😂😂
CURE YOUR MIND - Maybe, just maybe, he will make a video about how he edits his videos to make them so appealing to the viewer!?!?!? This was awesome video editing and the content was AWESOME as well. That picture was bad ass!!! Now, I do know that you must have great content, as well, but I would love to know how to edit a video the “right” way. Hell, it could even be titled, “how to edit your BORING AND MEDIOCRE video to make it SUPER DUPER SPECTACULAR, just like my videos”!!! 😂😂😂 But, in all seriousness, I would LOVE to see a video that he made about editing videos.
Love this!! With a canvas that large, you may need some bracing in the center and stretcher bars- so you can re-tighten the linen as it stretches out when painted. I'd love it if you could make a video of this!
I absolutely did not think the canvas would look that beautiful! It was great time spent watching your video. I learned so much. Thanks for making it. 😊
I have been looking for the simplest tutorial for building large stretchers and I finally found it! Not to mention I had no clue you would be painting Chattanooga, my hometown! Thank you for the amazing video, Jared!
I'm so glad I discovered this video as I always wanted to make my own canvases as most of the time I never get the sizes I want and have to settle for what they have at the stores. Moreover, I love the carefree approach Jared takes as he takes the fear out of making the canvas cause I've always been the "I hope I don't butcher this project" and afraid to make mistakes type. All I needed to hear was "it's just like wrapping a Christmas present." The artwork it self is also amazing. I love the bridges at dawn or at dusk, not to sure yet either way I love the feel of the painting. Thanks bud. Happy Saturday all.
Thanks! Some of the comments were mentioning that I should have tapered the wood a little bit so it only touches on the outside edge. So next time I’m going to do it a little different but the way I did it in this video works just fine.
An idea you may can play with, is build it exactly as you did, but add quarter round around the perimeter. You’ll have the beveled edge facing toward the inside of the canvas. That way, the only thing the canvas touches on the front is the thin edge of the quarter round. If you don’t do this, when you go to brush along the perimeter, some times you’ll get a line forming in your painting where the brush drags off the edge of the wood framing underneath. Doing it with the quarter round suspends it almost like a drum. Great video 👍
I was watching for that. My first stretcher was square wood and the brush strokes on the painting showed it up. You must bevel or glue on a small strip all around the frame to suspend the canvas,
Omg I just said something similar. Even like a 15 degree slant would make this much more fun to paint on. Maybe it doesn’t matter if you’re using spray paint and not a brush.
Duuuude, that was amazing! I was looking into making my own stretcher bars to hang a beautiful large piece of fabric as art in my living room, and your tutorial is the best! Thank you.
Your energy is everything..... I love how you put this video together!!! Now it's time for me to Storm your channel to see what else I can learn great work!!
This is so perfect and entertaining! Had to watch twice... the first time was in amazement, the second time was to actually figure out how to make the canvas. Thank you for this
don't know how I got here but, I'm glad I came!! !Wood worker, artist, editor, AND entertainer, you're like a "Jared of all Trades." I had to subscribe 😁
I'm going to make 2 large frames and was feeling pretty scared because working with wood has been pretty daunting but seeing how easy you made it makes me feel like I can do it, thank you and your painting is gorgeous 💕
Thanks! Someone commented on here that I should angle the wood on a table saw so the canvas only touches the outside edges so I’d probably do that next time. Flat it okay but I see why people would want it angled. Mine did rest on the entire frame and you could kinda tell where the pieces of wood were.
Holy shit, I actually checked at the end if it was posted on April 1st...thought those painting skills were an April fools joke. 🤣 You’re like the love child of Norm Abram and Bob Ross. 😂
Great video from start to finish🙏🙏🙌🙌 Was not expecting such a beautiful piece or art at the end - came for the frame tutorial and left with an experience 🤣
Haha you’re sayin I didn’t look like someone that could paint pretty things!! Lol thanks though I hope you stick around for some of my other videos. They’re more about how much fun I can have editing verses the content of the video 😊
Watchalewknat I think all I had was some white semi-gloss trim paint lol I looked up what I was supposed to use but who has gesso just laying around? 😑

@@sgtsayz8636 🤣 well silhouette painting is a good way to trick people into thinking you’re good. If you get the desire to build a fire pit, don’t watch my video 😅 it’s the worst!
I turned off the video before this one because it was so boring, then I stumbled onto yours and BAM, there you were, Formative - Funny - Funky & Fresh. Well Done!!!
Thank you! I think sometimes I just find a diy so I have something to edit lol wish I could post more often but they’re pretty time consuming. Plus I have about 100 other hobbies and a full time job 🙄
Man oh man… this was an AWESOME video, my friend!!! Here I am just thinking that I was going to see a video on how to make a canvas, as this is what my wife has currently tasked me with… and here I get an added BONUS!!! How to paint a bridge in Chattanooga, Tn. and its surroundings. By the way, I am from MEMPHIS!!! And one last thing… that Auburn jersey has got to go… ROLL TIDE!!! 😂😂😂💯💯💯🐘🐘🐘🏈🏈🏈
Haha happy to help. I have to do an updated version of the whole how to canvas, people in the comments let me know I was supposed to taper the frame so only the outside edge touches. My way works okay but they’re probably right. Shouldn’t be too hard to run the lumber through the table saw at a slight angle. Then the cross supports should be a little thinner so they don’t touch the canvas. Also, They do sell primed canvas. That’ll save you from having to paint it white first. Good luck bro! War Eagle 🦅
I ABSOLUTELY agree with your comment here! I was in a positive shock the entire time. I had immediately begun to post my reaction to what I had just witnessed. I then figured I would like to see what other people thought of his work. Just to find out that each comment was describing what I had immediately felt about his work [from beginning until the end]. I was also only searching for a tutorial on creating my own canvas, and he had delivered so much more. 😄 I hope you have been able to create your sturdy canvases and masterpieces of your artwork after watching his tutorial. Take care and stay safe. 😊
You're literally one of a kind, major talent & entertaining from beginning to end. And your video is amazing! Do you edit yourself? Put this on tik tok!!
Thanks again! I do edit myself on Final Cut Pro X. I feel like TikTok is too short form for me. I’ve got an account over there ( @jaredmturner ) but I do the good edits for RU-vid.

No you DIDN’T!! 😯 I am seriously IMPRESSED with the outcome of your canvas and your PAINTING DESIGN! 🙆🏻♀️ This is the first video I have seen from you and you had me intrigued the entire time and I’m so glad you had me wanting to see what you were up to next throughout the video, because when you had begun painting with the spray cans I was thinking, “Okay, that’s pretty.” ☺️ Then you zoomed the pencil into the camera and I had then thought, “Oh..okay he’s not done.” 🤔 ThEn you had introduced the black paint, and I had heard the voice from an infomercial when they say, “But WAIT! There’s more!!” 😏 Now with each time you had painted more and more my eyes were now glued to the screen as I had looked forward, more and more, to the final design of your painting. 😅 You are really gooooood/great artist !!🎨 You are also really great with your editing in this video. Thank you for sharing how to create the canvas and the bonus entertainment at the end. 🤗 Now I’ll be seeing what other videos you have on your channel. 🤓 💁🏻♀️Yes, I am your new subscriber. 😊
