Using easy component parts that are leather hard you can put together a nice little wall piece and use some Nichrome wire to make a secure fixing too!
Here is the link to the Nichrome wire! 20swg.

Thank you Jane. I enjoy your posts very much. I live in the USA,in the high dessert area of Idaho. I love this project, prepare the day before and ready to play the next morning. My dog too thinks I am some type of servant. If I ever get back to the UK. It would be lovely to meet.

I love your videos and your work! Informative and therapeutic to watch! I’m wondering with rolling out slabs with a rolling pin, is one material better than another? For example wooden vs metal (non stick kitchen type)? And is there a recommendation of how thin you can roll a slab? What is the thinnest you’d recommend?
@JaneScottCeramics
@JaneScottCeramics 3 года назад
Always roll out on an absorbent surface - plywood is ideal, bare wood, newspaper, even cardboard - never metal - the clay will stick....you will only do that once...!! 😂 thickness just depends on what you want to make... 👍🏼

Thank you SO MUCH for these videos! I am a potter and teacher at the Craft Guild of Dallas where I have a lot of beginners every session. It can be very hard to find projects to do with them once I'm past the basic pinch pot, coil pot, slab square box and intro to wheel throwing. You've given me so many ideas for things to do with my students that combine techniques and are complex but still easy enough for a relative beginner. Like you say, it doesn't have to be complicated to be impactful. Thanks so very, very much!

Just had to comment, SWG is standard wire gauge (the thickness). You can scavenge this wire from old electrical heaters, bar fires and old storage heaters. It is basically heating element. Cheers, Andy

Such cool ideas!! Side note, i have this bell on my front door that hangs from the door knob, so when my dog needs to go out, they paw at it to indicate they need to go out, so they don't bark constantly and be annoying. Lol i do love these designs!! Also, if you want to stick to your 15 minute videos but have to do the whole thing in more. You can cut them in half and do part one and part two. If you would like, just an idea

Does it matter how thick your slip is?
@JaneScottCeramics
@JaneScottCeramics 3 года назад
The joining slip? Well yes i suppose it does - to thick and its all blobby, best to make it like double cream but don’t worry too much about it.... 😉

Literally this is the best pottery tutorial I’ve seen, thank you so much! You make it accessible and fun, and not strict. I 💯 struggle with trying to attain perfection in little details in my art (not that I’m close to perfection haha but it bugs me)… it’s so awesome to hear you talk about that and how striving for perfect details can take away the life and humanity from the piece. That was really helpful!!! I’m going to an art space here tomorrow and will try to make a mini shrine and not worry about getting perfectly straight walls!! 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
