In this video i will show you how to make a coco fibre brick for hamsters. This is the way i found most effective to expand a coco fibre brick so the soil is ready to use in 24hours without baking. Using soil in your hamsters setup can be a great way to add a different substrate to your hamsters setup. If you are going to use a Coco fibre brick to achieve this you will need to make sure the soil is completely dry before you add it into your hamsters home. I personally add this in as a form of hamster enrichment and to help create my natural hamster setups.
Thank you for watching :)

how do you store it when it's ready ? how long is it safe to keep once made ? thanks for showing us your method and i'm sure pets at home will be getting many people in to buy these coco fibre bricks .

I tend to just keep it in the plastic tub until I’m ready to use it ☺️ I’ll get back to you on the how long will it last when I change it out. One thing to do is if I dries out too much it can become pretty dusty so is worth having a little fine spray/mist bottle to spray it every now and then so it’s not too dusty 😊💕

Hey I was wondering if you know if the lose substrate of eco earth coconut fiber is safe for hamsters to eat? Cuz mine likes to nibble on it but I can’t find answers if it’s safe or not and I really wanna make her habit more even more natural looking

Hello! Okay so iv got soil in my hamsters cages, I read somewhere that it shouldn't be completely dry? I'm confused 😂 mine drys out loads, is this okay or not?
@TianiSimoneX
@TianiSimoneX 3 года назад
So if it becomes completely dry I can become pretty dusty so you want it to have a little moisture but where it will not stick to your hand or clump together if squeezed if that makes sense 😂😊 you can also keep a fine spray/mist bottle to spritz it once it’s in your hamsters cage to spot it becoming dusty x

Ah I love moss in hamster enclosures! I brought some a month ago and added bits of it around the cage, but when I get more stuff (natural stuff) I’m going to add a moss section to give them more enrichment! :)

Can’t wait to see how you’ll introduce the dirt in the cages 😊 I put some in a large glass jar that I buried in the substrate so that only the opening of the jar is visible, my hamster loves to dig down in it!

I buy little circular discs from Amazon (coco coir discs) £13.49 they are smaller therefore easier to hydrate also if using it in a glass dish/jar they are the perfect size.

I know this is 3 months late, but I finally found coco fibre ! Edit: thanks for seeing this 😂 I am just making the coco fibre now, while also following along with this video hahaha, I have added the first load of water right now, so I will update you on how snowy likes the soil :) Also how much does the brick multiply, I brought a container that is smaller than yours, but I am unsure if it is big enough 🤔 I will store the soil in the container, and if there is too much, I will just add in the soil to snowys cage right away 😘🥰

I'm setting up the cage now with some coco sub, but a bit paranoid about using it because it's moist. Its 90% dry but I'm worried about 10% of humidity getting trapped in my Detolf cage which is open on top and thats the only place where air goes in and out. Im so confused about this moisture business because aren't the hamsters supposed to be able to burrow and therefore the bedding needs to be a bit most to hold the holes? Some say organic soil is good, some say it's not safe. If completely dry, there will be a fine particle of dust more or less which isn't safe for them? I know from that reason people buy paper bedding, but the hamsters would not be able to find those in nature, right?? So going back to my question, will my 90% dry coco sub be safe for a hamster? Thank you so much in advance!

Mine love having a dig in it however because it’s super loose I doubt it would hold actual burrows even if there was a load of soil added x

I gotta buy some of this stuff, I did go into the petstore a couple months ago and had some in my cart, but it was like 12 bucks and I just didn't feel like it was worth it for the size.... So I didn't end up purchasing it 😅. Idk if that makes me cheap lol. Maybe I will buy some in future because I think it looks really cool and it'd be nice for a hamster to have different substrates. Very helpful video, thank you for making this! 😊

If you use it dry or allow it to dry out completely then yes it’s pretty dusty but as long as you make it up and use a mist bottle to prevent it completely drying it’s fine
