This skirt turned out so beautiful! Thank you for the tutorial and pocket template! I'm going to try to make one myself too :) I just wanted to pop in and say that the hannah pattern is such a wonderful pattern - I made the ruffled version of the skirt a few weeks ago and LOVED how nice and cute it turned out!
Oh I love it!! A corduroy skirt + pockets = the definition of a dream!!😍 I love that you've used upholstery fabric - gives the skirt a lovely structure and gives it a more elevated look! 💕
Omg!!! That Pocket (Fold) is Amazing!!! ... for a second I was like.... that pocket is to big... fold it and you have an amazing pocket..... Mind blowing
Uhhh you're so good at it... I think I was also so good like you are... I am 11 years old and love to sew and loves crafting... and as I always say you are my inspiration ❤
Thanks lovely 🧡 If you’re already sewing at 11 you’re going to be incredible at sewing by the time you’re my age (I started sewing when I was about 15/16) x
Yay! I’ve been counting down the days to your next video! 🥳 Great video. I have a question, in case you do another live stream or Q&A video - Did you make your wedding dress? Deb x ☺️
Aw thanks! I’m so glad you’re enjoying my videos 🧡 I didn’t make my dress.. I tried, but got too overwhelmed 😂 My sewing has improved a lot since then though, so if I was getting married now I’d definitely make my dress!
What does it feel like to wear Janelle, as it is made out of upholstery fabric. Once we are out of lockdown (in NZ) I’ll have to visit spotlight to look for the fabric I love corduroy. When I was young, 10 yrs old, which was a long time ago, my mother made me a corduroy orange & brown paisley trouser suit. Have a great week and stay safe. Love the skirt.
I love corduroy too 🧡 It feels nice to wear - structured but comfortable 😊 The only problem I found with the fabric was it was quite messy once it was cut, so you will definitely need to overlock the raw seams as you sew!
Hi Janelle. I’ve been sewing on and off since I was 15 (I’m 43 now) but never really made anything. But I started again recently with a few of you 10 minute projects to de-stress and I’m hooked. So I’ve just treated myself to a Husqvana Viking Emerald 118 and this skirt is my project for this weekend. Cannot wait. How tall are you for reference? Thanks for your lovely videos that make my stress melt away xx
I love the end result. I was a bit worried about the pockets being bulky since the fabric is thick and interfaced, but you look very comfortable and slim, as always. 😍
Do you think the interior, particularly the seams are rough with it being upholstery fabric? i am wondering about possibly including a lining in mine. Thank you for the great tutorial.
For some reason I have many denim skirts but no corduroy skirts. When I get around to making one I will have to come back and watch this video again. Thanks Janelle. 🌸
Thanks! Some upholstery fabrics are stiffer than others. This fabric was quite thick (especially when sewing multiple layers together) but not too stiff. It had the perfect amount of structure for this type of skirt 😊
I love ALL your tutorials, you're a fantastic teacher but I personally thought the skirt was too bulky & thick for your body, sorry 😞 I think the fabric (cord, with backing) was just too heavy! Very sorry but your tutorial was fantastic 😘
Hi Janelle! I made the Hannah wrap skirt recently and my back piece was longer than the two front pieces haha. Is that normal or did I potentially make and error when cutting out my pattern. I fixed it when hemming but just checking for next time. Looking forward to adding this to my next to sew list (it’s getting quite long)
Thanks for purchasing my Hannah pattern 🧡 It could be what Kirsty said, sometimes it’s hard to know what way the piece is meant to go once it’s cut! If you’re not using a fabric with a one-way pattern, you can draw an arrow onto the pieces with some tailors chalk 😊
I was always told that too, but then I ironed a bit of scrap fabric and it was fine! Just make sure your iron is set to the correct setting for the composition of your fabric 😊
