I used to make and sell handmade dresses/clothing, and I’m slowly turning the designs I used to sell into patterns for others to make. Maybe one day I’ll make a full video about it 😊
All of her dresses that she designs are so gorgeous! I feel like the sleeveless version would look so lovely paired with a turtleneck and tights to be useful on colder days too!
I love how you explain your tutorials, you speed them up but not so fast it's obvious.Your choice of fabrics is always gorgeous and your new design is beautiful.I like the first one but that might be because I love the fabric.I also like the way you cut out the notches, leaving a point of fabric. This is the way I was taught and it means your not cutting into the seam allowance.
Just bought the digital version of the Daisy dress pattern. Absolutely love the name! Very excited to have a go! Thank you, as always, for a brilliant video. Deb x
Wow 🤩 Janelle !!!! This dress is A M A Z I N G !!!! You did so well ,truly talented lady ♥️🥰 Thank you 🙏🏻 so so much for sharing this video with all of us 😘 !!!!
Once again I am in LOVE with your fabric choices, that 1st dress's cool toned sage green (almost grey) with the textured floral print is 🔥!!!! Love love love!!
All three dresses are gorgeous! I would love to make the first one (A) in an olive linen, the second one (B) in a printed cotton, and the third shorter one (C) in a lightweight denim which would be soooo cute for summer!
Gorgeous I am just starting my sewing journey after 40 yrs so a bit advanced for me yet but definitely one to win for Thankyou for such a great video ❤️
Wow, Janelle! You’ve done it again! I’m so excited about this pattern and as always, my little girl was excited to watch your new video, too. I love your thorough explanation and how your passion shows in every video you make. I’ve been wanting to make my sister a dress and the daisy dress happens to be her favorite style. Cannot wait to make it for her! By the way, there’s something I’d like to share with you. This past week we were at Joann’s (fabric store) and my daughter randomly told me you previously worked at a fabric store, but now you work full-time doing what you love. She says that when she is able to work, she wants to work at a fabric store to collect fabric, learn to design clothes, make patterns, and make videos to inspire others just like you inspire her. She’s only 10 1/2. We watch many sewers on this platform, but you, Janelle, are definitely our favorite ❤️ Have you ever considered starting a workshop online class for young aspiring sewists? Learn to design, pattern making, start online business/videos, etc. You would make a great teacher! I would definitely sign my daughter up. 😊 Sorry for the extra long message.
This was such a lovely comment to read! Thank you so much for taking the time to share. I’m so happy to hear your daughter is finding inspiration through my content 🥰 Workshops are a great idea! Thanks for the suggestion xx
Absolutely beautiful and just in time to put on my Christmas wishlist. I would love a video at some point with ideas to hack these dresses for larger busts. I.e. how to adjust darts on the patterns or hack a larger size
I have just purchased this pattern. I have a question, though... I would like to sew the sleeveless version, but with a heavy winter fabric (like wool-flanell). Should I rather do pleats instead of the skirt gathering? I am worried that the gathering would add too much of a bulk to the dress. Thank you!
How would I go about printing the letter size pattern pages to the correct scale on an ipad? Seems whatever I try (printing in acrobat, etc.) doesn’t give me an option to turn off page scaling and the pattern prints much too small. Thank you in advance! 🙂
I am thinking of extending the bodice a bit to make it less empire waisted. I have a larger chest. Any tips to keep in mind. I’m a pretty new sewer. So thankful for your patterns!
Hi. Please help me. How do you measure how to place the space from end to sew on buttons? Hec. I don't know if I make sense 😮💨. I have made my holes and now I feel one side looks so wide with the holes and the under part with the buttons looks so small in width. Really stuck and need help pretty please.
My toxic trait is thinking i could make that when i can't sew following a straight line even with a sewing machine that i don't have. Still loving to watch you explain tho !
I love those little shirred puff sleeves. I grabbed the PDF this morning as soon as i saw your email that it was out. That grey-green fabric is stunning! Bit pricey this close to Christmas, i bet its sold out by the time the money tree blossoms again, lol!
All three dresses are so so beautiful! My favourite dress is the first one. Congratulation on such a success with this pattern. i will be purchasing this pattern soon. Love love love this pattern. 🌺🌺🇦🇺
A lovely dress, I prefer the sleeveless version with the shorter length but that is just because I am personally not a fan of puffy sleeves. That said the sleeve versions a very lovely too.
I personally would always opt for sleeves, but I loved the sleeveless more than I thought I would! It’s going to be great for layering turtlenecks under in the winter too 😍
Wow! Wow!! Wow!!! 💕 I’m off to buy this beautiful pattern now!!!! I love all the versions, and was thinking that the sleeveless version could be made as a pinafore dress too!!!! Love your vlog, and cant wait to see the next one!! 😃
Hi Janelle! I found a beautiful linen button-up dress (the whole length of the front) that I want to alter to be midi-length and have an elastic waist so it’s a little more bump-friendly. Do you have any recommendations for being able to keep the buttons but also have the elastic waist? Will that look funny? I was thinking I could always just keep the buttons on the bodice and make the skirt just a solid skirt. Thoughts? Thanks for any tips! ♥️
They all look amazing I bought the same gren fabric as yours from your preview video, it's in the mail can't wait to sew it up, one question (I know you couldn't use the decorative edge of the fabric just for the tutorial purposes), but how would you go bout using it for the edge of the dress, would I cut the material off going around the broderlie angalise edge?? Thanks again janelle, going online now to purchase my pattern
It’s such beautiful fabric Cathy, you are going to love it! Yes that’s right, it’s tedious but you just carefully cut around the embroidered edge. The skirt of the Daisy is rounded at the bottom so you may need to make the dress with a gathered rectangle skirt instead (that’s what I would do anyway), if you own the Rosa or Hazel patterns you can use those skirt templates as a reference. I hope this makes sense! 😊 x
Made this in a couple of days... honestly the most beautiful dress I have made so far! I made it out of a burnt orange and used Rosery Apparel's tie-up sleeve pattern to make the sleeves... so beautiful!! I have a smaller bust, so V-necks just don't really work on me, but because I made it I was able to bring the v up by 2-3 inches and now it's the perfect dress!!
Oh my goodness Janelle, this dress is absolutely gorgeous!! 😍😍 I've just had a look on your website, but I can't see the finished garment sizes (sorry if I'm being stupid and just missed them!), also, does the waist seam sit at the natural waist please?? Thank you very much in advance. Lynne 😃😍
I forgot to ask how you would higher the neckline, I am a bustier person but I like keeping covered up.This is not a criticism of the pattern, which is fab, just a personal preference.Thanks.
I really want to make this dress! I was just wondering how much fabric did you use? And do you think it would be okay to use a linen/wool blend fabric for this dress?
when I see making a cloth..it looks like so easy and I can do it step by step easily..but when I actually sit to try, it become so hard😑.. I wasted my so many clothes like this
Hi! I am currently making this dress but had a really hard time finding any 19mm buttons I liked. I found some 17mm buttons but wondering if those are going to be too small or how to adjust the buttonhole guide to work with 17mm. Any tips would be really helpful! Thanks! Cannot wait to wear my lovely Daisy dress when it is finished!!
Just so we can know you're a mere mortal, lol, it would be fun if you did a video of "outtakes", if any. It would be nice to know we are not the only ones to screw up while making a dress.
Can you show how you draft patterns in so many sizes and sell patterns I really want sell a pattern as my own or please link some resources that you used for pattern making hope you will reply my comment 😍love your videos Janelle I am girl from India 💓💕
How would I increase the size of the pattern effectively. I see it’s for sizes 4-14 and I wanted to know your recommendations on expanding measurements for a wider size range. Thank you this dress is beautiful.
@@sierrawho3914 Hi! The dress pattern actually goes up to a size 24- when you purchase the pattern, you get either the smaller or larger size range. If you still need to make it a little bigger: for example, the 22 fits me best in the shoulders but it’s still a little snug around the middle, I’ve left out the waist darts in the back and front (I left the side bust darts in the front), and used the size 24 skirt pattern pieces so I could still gather them, and it seems to be okay. 😊 I’m not an expert in sizing up patterns, so if you need to size up past size 24, maybe someone else can chime in about that.
@@RoseryApparel My absolute pleasure. I love you and all that you are. You're just the bee's knees and you cheer me up. Thank you for your support. I love to be able to support local too! 😍
I love all 3 dresses.👍 I particularly loved the olive one the best and also the sleeveless one looks really cute on you. Thanks Janelle for the attention to detail especially when sewing the pockets on . I have never sewed dresses with pockets and you made it look super easy.. My next try. 🤗👍
Hi everyone. I have a few questions: What is the seam allowance? Also, does anyone press the gathers before sewing the skirt to the bodice? I hear it makes sewing a bit easier?
Hi there! The seam allowance is 1cm (all of that info is found in the pattern instructions) and I personally prefer to iron the gathers of the skirt once it’s attached to the bodice, but you can iron them before hand if you like 😊
It depends on the size you’re making! All the info can be found in the photos on my website and in the instructions/back of the pattern once you purchase the it 😊
Congratulations on the launch of the Daisy pattern! Well done! I wish I knew how to sew, I'd fill my summer closet with different versions of this dress (and others you have shared in the past, not gonna lie, I love them all). I personally wouldn't go for the sleeveless version because that style isn't the most flattering for my body type, but I'd play around with different sleeve options. The second one is a dream 😍
Congratuations Janelle. This pattern looks amazing! I don't make clothes usually, but I'm going to have to give this is go because you make it look so easy. I generally just make homewares and baby accessories so the machine operation isn't an issue, but clothes still freak me out...
Yes you can. Just need to stitch in the ditch of the waistline seam. Drawback is that unless you’re experienced you might not catch the lining in the stitching, it could look messy
I love this dress I will be buying it. I'm surprised you don't own a button hole foot although I'm guessing you did it the way you did as a tutorial for people who don't own one
