Took me 7 hours, but I followed this tutorial and OMG the outcome was amazing! I have very minimal sewing skills and knowledge and your tutorial was super easy to follow, turning out a cute little corset top for me!
DRAWING IT ON A T SHIRT FIRST IS GENIUS!!!! I don’t have a sewing form and I don’t care to make one out of duct tape 😭 you literally just changed my whole life I can’t wait to watch the rest of the video
Even without a serger you did this like a profesional and the finish is so good Girl you inspired me because I dont have a serger and I think that I cant do a good finish
I wish I have a overlock machine but without it you can still do it! If your sewing machine has similar stitching options you can mimic the way serger does👍 you can do it!♥️
This was the most easy to understand video I have found for this specific thing I’ve been trying to make! Thank you!! And I can’t wait to try this in the near future 💚
No I didn't use the interfacing! The fabric I used has a little strength itself not much but it can hold its strength with two layers with boning wires so I just used it as it is! But if you're using flowy?fabric or sth stretch you definitely need interfacing in between
I'm wondering, the sizing... How small should it be since it's a corset. And what is that referencing to? Dress size or like bust size? Wondering if I need to draft a larger pattern.
hey mina! for the pattern, do i print it out? i need the smaller size. what are the measurements for that on the pattern? also, could you provide a full material list of what you used?
Maybe this is a stupid question (I’m a beginner) but you put in the boning and after you sewed the ruffles on: did you reserve some space at the end of the boning channels for this (how much?)? Because I can’t imagine you’re seeing on top of the boning? Same goes for lining at the top of the corset?
Yes i left about 0.5cm to close the open end then i sew the ruffles over the boning wires! But you have to slow down otherwise your needle will break easily!(if you're using thick boning wire)
I use Sewing machine: model 'CAMPUS 300' from Brother support.brother.com/g/b/manualtop.aspx?c=kr&lang=en&prod=hf_campus300eas&flang=%ED%95%9C%EA%B5%AD%EC%96%B4&pfs=1
I used this machine for 10 years! No wonder it's hard to find😭 but this is the basic of all sewing machines so I bet you can find one that has all the settings this machine can do and more!
To use tshirt for self pattern, you need to wear a size that is not too tight or not too oversized. Tshirt itself is usually stretchy so to make more accurate self pattern it should maintain its form when you're wearing it. otherwise the pattern you drew on tshirt will turn out smaller(or bigger) than it looked on your body. I hope this helps!
haiiii! I absolutely love your videos and im planning to make this with your pattern hihihi is it ok If I ask for your measurements for me to adjust the pattern to my size? hihihi thank you so much💓
I will! This one was already requested by a lovely subscriber but I'm already on two projects😭🥲 so once they're done i'm right on it!!! (I hope it's the same corset she requested -the lacy one with ribbon straps from ig@sororitevintage)
I used silk, polyester combined fabric that usually used to make Hanbok-korean traditional garments but they're very similar to any other non stretchy silk fabric!
