How to Make a Custom LEGO Minifigure Drone or Hardsuit (TUTORIAL)

Found this awesome drone design by √erde' on Flickr, and I thought it would make a great tutorial. Made some minor changes to the design to allow it to stand on it's own. It can either be a hardsuit, in which case it is a suit for a whole person, or drone, in which case it is an autonomous robot!

These are really solid; I normally build robots but don’t get them so compact normally. It’ll be lots of fun to try some new methods!

I really enjoyed your design and making it, I did how ever made my own modifications of my own on the back, this design allows the drone to carry a weapon on its back

I really like the design and overall look of this drone, will most definitely make a few with my own colors and accessories! Maybe even make one with bulkier armor to make a heavy variant. Very cool all together.

Wow, this is epic. I built it, and I love the opportunities for modding! Instead of the rangefinder, I used a Wally tacky piece and a 1x2 with a clip to make a nice antenna

the minifig helmet fitting onto the torso that way is mirrored by the Technic fig helmet also fitting onto a minifig torso. Looks a bit like a space suit. Maybe try it out :)

Nice vud man i copied your lego suit and its come out good but the legs are uhm... well flimsy and it always comes out and when i display it it breaks... and i will fix it and nice vid man...

Eh, stop motion is one of those things you have to be VERY invested in and I don't think I am, I am more into the building side and making cool art pieces.

have any alternatives to the rounded 1x1 black clip piece?

Unfortunately not that I can think of, it's a fairly new piece which pretty much makes the legs possible. You may be able to try just some black minifigure legs, and bend them a bit and attach the round 1x1 plate with the holes to the back of them. but I don't know if it would look as good.
