Starts out as just a power saw and a drill. Then: clamps, tape measure, speed square, respirator, ear muffs, goggles, extension cord, table saw, saw horse, palm/orbital sander, drill bits, mallet, hand saw, hammer, router, drill press, forstner bits, paint roller/ cover/ tray, hammer drill... I drive past all the big box hardware stores and always go to True Value. Great job. Subscribed.

As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement ru-vid.comUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!

I've been watching a LOT of woodwork DIY lately, and while I've come across some real good makers, I think this video was easily one of the best: You showed us what you were making right at the start, no-fuss and to the point, clear instructions, enough explanation for your decisions, good suggestions for alternative techniques, wonderfully shot both visually and instructionally, and as a designer, I even appreciate the illustrations to illustrate how you're about to tackle the project which gives a good overview to understand it all. Even the music, while I'm sure is generic stock music, is appropriate, calming, and I'm partial a good relaxing guitar. And I appreciate how you even implemented your sponsor in a tasteful way that respects the viewer. The ending little dialogue was also really amusing to me! lol

It's interesting to watch Chris' earlier videos. A job site saw, dewalt sander, and no festools or sawstops. It's really cool to see how far he's come along with not only his equipment, but his designs and editing. Keep it up.

I use that same dewalt table saw and stand for work. When setting it up I extend all the legs while its standing on end and just grab the handle and pull it over. I've had the one I got for almost 2 years and I haven't seen any adverse effects to the legs they're still going strong try it out, it's way easier, especially when you're by yourself

thank you True Value and Scott for supporting Chris and and your community. I practically live at my True Value (Zellars Napa, CA). Chris is an excellent wood worker and while creating value for his community by creating a place where people can come and learn. However For me Chris is a strong clear voice of what for me America is about. His method of clam story telling is inclusive and educational especially for young people off to start a life aventure. His word play is the draw for me, his banter is captivating. No he is not my son and if he was I would be beaming like the Sun.

Chris - I absolutely love your work; the irony is that I'm not a fan of "mid-century" design. But, what you do...and how...and why...aren't stuck to just one style. The heart and soul of it can wear an exterior of mid-century or arts-and-crafts or williamsburg or georgian or what my father called "early attic." Thank you for sharing your particular flavor of manliness! :-)

We Just built this TV Stand. Thank you so much for putting this out in the world. We decided to make our own panels(our first panel glue up ever) which made everything take way longer. But these plans are solid and the build itself took almost no time and looks great!
@SilverSparrow5
@SilverSparrow5 Год назад
How much was your total cost?
@tworoads
@tworoads Год назад
@@SilverSparrow5 We built this from wood we already had(reclaimed wall paneling). The only thing we bought new was spray paint and some panel clamps, so maybe $80. If you bought the wood to make this I would think several hundred dollars depending on the size you went for. We loved being able to use old scrap wood though, so keep an eye out and see what you can find. Jointing, planing and sanding had us sink a lot of hours into it though.

The ONLY tools you need, are a circular saw and a driller. Yeah. Okay … Or… if you have one, a table saw. And… glue. And clamps, yeah clamps. Like a lot of them. Short ones, and… yepp, really long ones. Let’s say four. At least. Better six. Or eight. Okay, and you’d need a shizzle and a grinder. And a milling machine and a ryoba and, may be… a workshop and an education as a woodworker could help. But basically ALL you need for this cabin is a circular saw and a driller!!! 😂 Love your vids dude!

I've watched a handful of these videos and think there is a lot of great insight on design and build. I do think it would have been a bit more efficient to cut the center shelf before locating the vertical partition. If you were to cut the shelf to half of the length of the top and bottom. Then scribe a line on those pieces to define the location. As long as you don't put you partition on the wrong side of the line you shouldn't need to cut the shelf more than once. Maybe I'm missing the reason it was done this way, I just thought I would throw it out there. Thanks for all of the great design insight, I love the "Let's talk about design" vids.

Withought the doors and using the hairpin legs... a 3/10 difficulty. With the doors and the wood legs, a 5/10 or so. In other words, it isn’t hard... just large. And if you can cut out rectangular pieces... you can handle it.

Awesome job Chris. Nice simpler build that is more approachable. EVERYONE else complaining about the lack of dados, the simplicity, or the different tools. It was all part of the build. It's suppose to be a simpler more approachable project with typical DIYer tools. Chris talked about it on his podcast. Check the modern maker podcast out and get your insider info on. As always brother great job.

You should look into using pocket hole joinery. Its very strong and easily concealable.

Great video and end product Great finish on the ply too Wish plywood here in the UK was the same quality as yours. Decent ply costs a fortune here 🙄

Thanks Emmanuel. Here, they are on the slightly more expensive side of the brands you find at the hardware stores...Bosch and Makita are right around the same price...some of the other brands are a little less typically.

Hi from Australia!s Mate! Looks great. I've made a few things at home... coffee table, dining table, hall stand. But they are all designs where i didnt have to cut ultra straight and none would be the wiser. Me and the misses are looking at combining our tv cabinet and glass cabinet into one long unit and i think this will be project for it. Thank you for the quick tips on how to cut large pieces straight, im pretty much always lost on how to get 90 degree cuts. Ps. Da Bears!

Awesome TV stand and video! Clean, simple and interesting by the visible layers of the veneered plywood. Think I'm going to build this stand myself! The coating you used works very well with the walnut veneer, did you used the Arm R Seal Urethane Top Coat again? Keep up the good work!
@Foureyes.Furniture

You could use arm r seal... but on this one I used some of the formby’s wipe on. I was using all things I got from True Value. It worked out well.
