Hi, I'm Chris. I love designing and building furniture. I didn't grow up around woodworking or as a handy person. I only got interested when I was 30 years old. But I dove in pretty deep. Within a few years I had started "foureyes furniture" where I would design and sell commissioned pieces and a few years later I started my RU-vid channel.
If you're interested in building something, watch our videos, and check out our "Furniture Project Courses" on our website.

Here's an idea. If you have a mistake this big next time ask all of us for ideas about how it would be best fixed. We could even send a video up to 2 minutes or something like that and anyhow by cross pollinating our brainstorming session you might really get an idea that is incredible. Those slabs of wood were so expensive I hated to see them get hurt of course. I'm glad you stay positive and realize that mistakes are always lessons as long as they are learned which means not repeating them then you are in great shape ! And actually more importantly than all that. Thankfully you did not get hurt more than anybody else.
Why wouldn't you just make that hole that was an accident more natural and fill it with the matching color filler that you use to join the original two boards together?
I'm a woodworker and pilot. I really like the cut in the slab when you had the sticks crossing over it reminds me of an airport runway . I've trying to come up with a desk that looks like a plane wing but now I seen this I will probably use a slab and cut to channels to make it look like my home town airport thanks for that idea 😊
Splendidly long crazy word! Lol 😆 and my only negative comment is absolute Zero is -459.67 F hahaha, seriously you get a view, a new sub & a thumbs up from a non-wood worker who still really enjoyed your video! And will check out more!!, Haters can go F themselves!!
12:29 why do I feel like it was directed at my drawing skill😂 Also Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis (i honestly had the same thoughts about keywords) If you were a scientist i would have hated you😂 but I love your video it's more...original? Your splendid I mean i have seen other videos they weren't orginal but they were beautiful basically wood stuffis very hard and i appreciate the people who are doing their best and thank you for giving me some advice on drawing
I like your drawings as they help me see where you are going. I was the kid that liked to watch the construction site; this allows me to visualize the finished product AND how you got there. Thanks for the clear narrative as well.
I love your mentality. The fact that you’d rather own your mistakes and honesty is worth more to you than trying to look good, especially the way things are in society these days, is a massive virtue. This I s exactly what I’m trying to teach my seven-year-old twin boys. Hats off to you mate. The project turned out gorgeous, and the paddle pop sticks don’t take away from it at all. If anything they work like massive bow ties to give it more structural integrity. Oh and, thanks Dolores.
Thanks Deloris. One thing that could acceptuate the popscicle sticks in a cool way would be to put some brass around them. It would make them look more intentional and add quite a bit of beauty to my eye.
My only comment may be a little flipit but, who gives a damn what other people think as long as you are satisfied and proud. Woodworking is just as much for the woodworker than the recipient.
I love your designs and when I can afford my own place and can make my own furniture for myself I will order something (and only use your leg designs but happy to pay for the whole thing:)
Very nice design, splendid even. I would be concerned about the drawer wearing the surface of the ledge it sits on. You could do wooden runners on the sides that actually fully support the drawer. I like the record sleeve presentation idea! I think it would look more natural with a contasting wood piece that fits flush and fills a square cut slot. Push down one end (recessed underneath) to allow it to tip up. Cleaner looking imho. Lovely work!
I don't get it....why buy carob wood and paint it to make it look like walnut and not buy walnut instead in the first place!!!!??? It is such a shame IMHO to waist such a beautiful piece by staining it.
There’s a book called Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. The premise of the story is about an architect whose magnum opus building gets altered, and his response is to burn the fu**ing building to the ground, and the consequences to his actions on trial. Just reminded of that book.
For the center of the base you could use the cnc to line up some 1/4 holes for some dowels so all the pieces come together evenly when you glue it up. Table looks great!
sorry to illuminate your delusions young fellow but this "design "is more or less generic 1950" or 60's, and not very attractive, something that i would not choose, so how many have you replicated at a clients request? this is a storm in a teacup that i clicked because of it's title...imagining something fabulous that a multinational had ripped off of you... what a drama queen.
oh well... shit happens... we have a saying: Des Handwerkers Kunst ist es seinen Pfusch zu verstecken. which google translates to: The craftsman's art is to hide his botches.
2500 years later, an archeologist will find this piece and wonder what cultural or religious significance the buried flies have on our society. Perhaps preserving them means we worshipped the flies? Maybe they're there as guardian spirits for our journey to the afterlife? Only the ancients will know.
