How To Make a Dole Whip: Disneyland vs. Dole Recipes [Which Is Better?]

Disney Parks recently came out with a recipe for the popular Disneyland / Walt Disney World treat: the world famous Dole Whip! In today's video we made two different Dole Whip recipes: the official Disney Dole Whip recipe that Disney Parks Blog just released to the public & the official Dole recipe found on the Dole website.
Disney Dole Whip recipe:
* 2 cups frozen pineapples
* 1 big scoop of vanilla ice cream
* 1/2 cup Dole pineapple juice
Official Dole recipe:
* 1 cup of Dole pineapple juice frozen in an ice cube tray
* 1 frozen / peeled banana
* 1/4-1/2 cup unsweetened coconut milk
* 2 1/2 teaspoons powdered sugar

Well, neither is the real thing, but they do need to give us something that we can actually make at home... The real stuff arrives as a powder, gets mixed with water and thrown in to a soft serve machine. Sugar, Dextrose, Stabilizers (Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum, Locust Bean Gum, Guar Gum, Karaya Gum, Pectin), Coconut Oil, Contains 2% Or Less Of Each Of The Following: Maltodextrin, Citric Acid, Natural & Artificial Flavor (contains Pineapple Juice Powder), Modified Food Starch, Malic Acid, Beta Carotene (Color), Mono & Diglycerides, Silicon Dioxide (Anticaking).

I was also thinking Star Trek. I was lucky enough to go to the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas twice and it really was an amazing an immersive experience.

Agree. The Star Trek Experience was amazing. Loved the ride/experience, the shopping was fun but too many things were sold out, and the Ferengi interaction in the bar was a hoot.

Another great video, thank you! Loved the blender top being tricky, the success of the first pour and the Q&A. In 2012, in Star Trader, wearing ear holed hoodies with 2012 all over, i spotted duffy bears. An instant bond was formed, I remember thinking, 'looks like i'm spending 30$ on a plush bear right now'. SO cute. Fun to hear him get a mention. Thanks again!

I would live in Tarzana tree house! I love adventurelands theme and would love to live in the tree house. I can imagine spending nights out on the balchony listening to all the animal noises coming from the jungle cruise. Very beautiful and peaceful.

Peter, Kitra on the 2nd recipe, use half a banana, add frozen pineapple chunks, you need to freeze the fruits longer as they are the agents to thicken the ice-cream, add a splash of rum when blending

I tried this with sweetened condensed milk and it came out absolutely ON POINT-give it a try! You can also make a piña colada whip and add cream of coconut as well as sweetened condensed milk and BOOM ❤️

Looks pretty easy to make. I made this recipe on Saturday and it came out wonderful. My son really enjoyed it and mentioned that it tasted the same as the one they sell at the park.

If you want the whip to hold up longer, put the mix in the ziploc without cutting it and place it in the freezer for about 15 minutes. Also adding some coolwhip would probably stiffen it up to get more of the park consistency.

I've been to the Star Trek experience in Lss Vegas and it was pretty neat. The best part was when we beamed onto the bridge of the Enterprise. It was kinda like the Rise of the Resistance pre-ride show where you step off the transport into a Star Destroyer. I wish I had bought a few more things from there before they closed up for good.

Hi Kitra and Peter. So here's my personal take on Dole Whip. I discovered it for the first time when in Hawai'i a long time ago (at the Dole Plantation in fact). So, in the Hawai'ian islands, there is no comparison. However, that said, Disneyland's Dole Whip is absolutely incredible as I've had it there as well. So, the taste difference between Disneyland and Hawai'i is not too different and the Parks have done a great job with it. In Hawai'i, the flavor is a bit more tart and "fresher" tasting because they are picking the pineapples at peak times of the seasons. The texture is a bit smoother/creamier as well. In Disneyland, because they are needing to mass produce the Whips more, the flavor does taste a bit sweeter and slightly "icier". But not a complaint by any means. I believe they may add more sugar into their mixture at Disney to help with consistency and cohesiveness. But, the ultimate trick here is to definitely use DOLE product as you two have. I absolutely LOVE Dole Whips so, this is just my take. Great job making it! I can't wait to try next.

They both looked good. An will be trying to make that soon. Many years ago at Star Wars Weekend they had a meet and greet with Luke at Jabba's Palace. Which was the area for the merchandise they sold at the event. Plus they would have Disney characters as Star Wars characters for meet and greet. So miss that event. Would love to see it back.
