Looks great! Top tip: if you reduce the size of the interfacing so that it doesn't include the seam allowance then it'll reduce bulk at your seams

I just wanted to say, the hazel dress was the first dress I ever saw you make and fell in love with it. This is a really good question! My go to is 2.5 metres. For me, I find it’s usually enough for most dress types 😊

You can also under stitch the edges if you don’t want the top stitch look

To prevent the facing from sliding around, you could also use an under stitch (with a sewing machine) with no visible top stitching:))

OMG! I can't wait to make this! I'm going to make it for a friend too. If her measurements are all in different sizes (bust size 20, waist size 104 and hips size 16) what size dress should I make her/ how do I put these sizes together? I know this is probably a super obvious answer, but I'm a super beginner sewer!

Thank you! For this dress, the hip size isn’t really necessary, so just focus on the bust and waist. Hopefully that helps, and maybe I will share in a video soon how to merge to sizes as it’s hard to explain in just a comment!

I think it’s a great beginners project, and a lot of beginners have tried it with much success! And yes it’s easy to make into a maxi, just adjust the length of the skirt however long you’d like it to be 😊

People have had success adding sleeves as it is, but depending on the look you’re going for you may have to widen the neckline/straps a bit 😊

Thanks so much! I didn’t really design it for a particular cup size, and have had many people make it from all different sizes 😊 I hope this helps!

@@RoseryApparel oh OK! I know most patterns are drafted for a certain cup size (not like a bra size but the ratio of upper bust/full bust). I find I often have to do fitting adjustments on fitted bodices as I have a larger ratio than a lot of patterns use and it's useful to know the ratio the pattern was drafted on to help with this. Thanks anyway! :)

Nope, as size 14 is in both size sets to prevent you needing to buy two patterns! You’ll just need to purchase the size 4-14 size set (which includes size 12) 😊

Wait, I've never seen this knot at the top of a dart thing. What does that do? Is it so obvious nobody even mentions it?

You’re not meant to back stitch the dart as it makes the fabric bubble a bit so instead you tie a double knot to ensure the stitches don’t come loose 😊

I learned sewing at school many years ago, the machines at school were old and did not back stitch, so this is how I learned to start and finish a seam, which is good because I only hand sew now 👍
