Such a cute idea. Would be fun to make a few pairs using holiday fabrics - Christmas, Easter, spring, summer, etc - and give as a gift that can be changed.

Way easier than how I've been making mine: using 2 pieces of fabric, fusible fleece, grippy liner, a tab & 2 magnets so it can be stored on the fridge. Thank you for showing me an easier, uncomplicated way ... ❤ Seriously, I drove myself crazy when things didn't turn out right! I wanted to make these as co-worker gifts, but dreaded the process... Now I can make these in bulk without fretting! Seriously, thank you! 🙏
@NotchesSewing
@NotchesSewing 9 месяцев назад
Yes I’ve seen them made with loops and magnets but thought there is no need for an extra layer making it thicker and I don’t hang things on my fridge so wanted to make it as simple as possible. Thanks for watching😊
@sleepyfacedangel

@@NotchesSewing So, so true ... Very bulky, turning them out & top stitching corners were difficult. Don't know how many times my tabs were crooked or on the wrong side. 😆 Made these to go with microwave potato bags for gifts & people loved the jar openers more because they were so useful. Thank you for everything... 🙏

Thank you for this quick and easy to follow tutorial. I had a bit of an issue with my liner having slight tears, likely from the feed dogs. So, I sewed my second one with a lining fabric, which was much better, until I had to top stitch the opening. I like your idea of sewing the diagonal lines, though. It worked for my first one, but I didn't do it for the second one. Maybe my liner is too puffy 🤔
@NotchesSewing
@NotchesSewing 4 месяца назад
Thanks for watching. Try a longer stitch or a walking foot for puffier fabric
@jenkenpo808

I had to use my walking foot so the material fed thru without puckering and for the thread stitch to be even , then it was easy easy. And yes I tried fabric not drawer liner against my feed dogs and it always puckered or stretched and stitching was irregular
@NotchesSewing

You can try putting some painters tape on your machine bed and under your presser foot or use a teflon foot. Thanks for watching!😊

@NotchesSewing
@NotchesSewing 9 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching. I do not sell at craft fairs so I wouldn’t have a clue. I’m afraid I cannot give financial advice either.😊
@angelbear_og
@angelbear_og 9 месяцев назад
You need to determine your price based on the cost of the materials and how much your time is worth, plus factor in what is reasonable in your area (different areas vary economically). Try selling at what you think is a fair price. If they fly off the shelf maybe raise it a bit. If they languish try lowering it. Also look around at other vendors for similar items to see what they sell for. Good luck!!!

I'm a newbie and I want to know why the stitch needs to be at 4?
@NotchesSewing
@NotchesSewing 9 месяцев назад
Because you are sewing thicker fabrics together you do not need such a small stitch. Also the outer topstitching will look much more professional.
@Clovergirl7934
@Clovergirl7934 9 месяцев назад
Ok. Thought this was a really cute project. Got everything. Tried just regular material and terry cloth. I couldn’t get it to run smoothly through the machine! I kept having to force it. Lining was not that thick….Dollar Tree shelf liner. Made sure my stitch was 4” like you said. Material side up. Had such a hard time. I am so disappointed 😔. Yours ran through so smoothly. Any suggestions?
@NotchesSewing
@NotchesSewing 9 месяцев назад
you can try putting wide strip of painters tape on the machine bed and under your presser foot so it doesn’t stick whether you sew with the liner on top or bottom. You can also try a walking foot. If you don’t have painters tape, you can also use a piece of tissue paper under the liner, sew together and then you will need to tear away after. Cheers!
