Thanks for this tutorial, it's the easiest and most appealing I've seen so far. The material you used also drew me to the video - how I wish I had that lovely fabric! I made my first mask this evening and except for needing to make the elastic longer for myself, it was so easy! I did it on my machine, took almost no time at all.

Great video, thank you! I was so impressed on how quick and easy these were to make and how well fitting they are. Even my daughter who wears glasses found them the most comfortable and a *lot less* fogging of her glasses. We tweaked it a little because everyone has different sizes and shapes of face, and these changes made it more personal. We added small twist ties on the bridge of the nose to pinch and a little elastic around bottom of chin to prevent too much movement if having to open mouth wide (like yawning or yelling). We also modified the corners where the elastics are. Instead of folding and passing elastics through, we left the corners there and sewn one end of the elastic to that corner and the bottom elastic from behind the ear to sit approx. 1 1/4 inches below the corner, and its as snug as a bug!!

This is my favorite one so far. With my machine, I can make four in under an hour, and it's very comfortable and easy. I used a twelve inch circle for the adults and the 10 inch is better for schoolkids or small faces. I am using tshirt strips instead of elastic and this is the most comfortable one yet, plus you can put a layer of coffee filter, paper towel or chiffon fabric inside through the hole. We want it a little more form fitting at the nose so our glasses don't fog, so I'm just folding down the top (like the sides) to make a little pocket to sew in two doubled up twist ties.

Thank you very much for this DIY safety masks. Most people have needles and thread in their home but not every home has a sewing machine! That's why this video is GREAT! Very good fitting pattern also, which is very important, the mask needs to fit snug with no big air gaps. You can also wear these masks without metal bendable nose bridge piece...wonderful! Quick to make and a good fit! This mask also has the opening area for a filter layer if desired.
