If you want to strengthen it further have a 2 x 6 on the bottom on both sides and have an Angled support brace from the bottom structure to the underside of the 2x6.
Cap. I just built mines for like 70 dollars. If you have certain tools and all you need to get is the wood 70 to like 80 bucks is all you need. Depending on what size you build to. Mines is a Queen.
You can use plywood, just cut it into slats. Lol. Seriously i did something like this without thinking about breathing. I had mold within a day. Took me a while to figure out what that smell was.
Nicely done!!! If you get the chance to put in slates it'll allow your mattress to have air flow through the bottom, otherwise moisture will lead to mold.
That's exactly why I'm here. I stubbed my pinky toe and the one next to it so badly a few years ago that it still hurts like crazy today. I always, and I mean ALWAYS wear Crocs in the house now. I call em my "Feet Shields". I refuse to risk doing it again.
