You don't need that many tools. You can literally screw everything with a 🪛 screwdriver. You can also make it a little thicker if you find the right piece of lumber. Just don't trim it. Also, you can make pocket holes with a drill bit. Just mark the depth with a tape. And, you can use a hand saw, or ask them in the store to cut to your dimensions. He did it in light wood, but I am going to get already darkened. Also, instead of staples for the top, I will use screws, and give it a rustic/steam punk look. Even if you don't have right tools, if you're dedicated and put some thought and passion, I think it can be done, and it can look good.
@andreykhazhevskiy3230
@andreykhazhevskiy3230 3 года назад
Also, it's not big, so sanding by hand should do the trick.

Is this also possible with a drawer if you bridge a big gap between two walls. I have a room, 2 meters wide (6.5 feet) and want to make a desk over the whole width. I'd prefer it with 1 or 2 drawers but I'm not sure if it'll be strong enough...
@Ryan-hp6xt
@Ryan-hp6xt 2 года назад
I want to build something like this but I need it to be 6 feet wide and I want a 4 foot wide slide out keyboard tray so when I don't want my keyboard/mouse out I can just push it in and thus preventing me needing my desk to be 3 feet deep. Good fuel for ideas, thanks. I want the tray in the one I build to be centered in the desk, and I use it for a writing surface too, planning to mount it directly below the chair railing in my office which is at the perfect height.

another thing you can to to reduce sagging and strengthen it is to put an angled piece of wood from one corner of the second wall to the main wall, and a few in a straight line from the far left corner all the way to the front right corner in sequence with pocket screws so that it isn't left without support. small things

Hey! Thanks so much. To be honest, my home remodel has been sooo much work and taking up way too much time. It will be worth it, but it's taking time away from being good about getting more consistent videos out. All the vertical cedar channel siding is going up this week and next. Then the metal roof, followed by a 1300 sq foot trex deck. I will be documenting the deck project, and do need to share a video soon of all the progress though! Hope all is going great!

@DIYPETE
@DIYPETE 5 лет назад
Hey! haha, yeah it tended to be a better spot to film then a boring old bedroom in the house :) Thanks for watching! As for property prices where I live, it is unfortunately pretty expensive in my area, but then again that all depends what you are used to where you live. I'd say real estate prices are on the pricey side though. I had a 1979 total fixer upper home that has needed a ton of work -- but it was on 10 acres in a location I really wanted to be in, so I really got the place for the land and figured I'd put a lot of work into it to make it exactly what I wanted it to be. It's been a lot of work, but completely worth it.
