Im a therian who recently accidentally got a tail from a cruel fur farm:( ill try to respect that tail and honor it for the animal that got killed and tysm for the tutorial! Idk how to tie a knot and this was really helpful!!:Dd I subbed!!
That’s ok!! As long as you do care for it and love it that’s enough🤍. You know now :). And you’re so welcome!! I’m happy it helped you!! 🤍 and thank you so much for the sub!!! 🤍🤍
This is one of the best tutorials I’ve found!! Currently working on a fox tail- Not it being 1 AM but shoooosshhh- No one will know >:3 Gonna wear it to school tomorrow morning-
Making these as a keychain for the side of my pants and purse (so when im alone i can wear it normally, but pass it off as just a keychain if i wear it on the side in public) Anyways i have made one before but i had to throw it away but here are some tips i learned If its not fluffy enough try spraying it with water then hair dry it roughly Flattening ironing it will make it super soft n fluffy as well just dont use red heart yarn for that You can dye it with hair dye or make your own natural dye and stain it, i only have colorful yarn so its what im doing
O: FNAF COSPLAY? I’m going to become a cosplayer and I’m planning on making my first cosplays Jayfeather (warrior cats), Sunny (WOF), and Glamrock Freddy (FNAF:SB)! (They’re all animal like bc they’re all therian mask based XD)
wonderful tutorial and you seem like a lovely person :3 btw if you’re wondering the brush is called a carding brush! if you got it from a craft kit it was probably a pom pom kit? i found one like that in walmart the other day it looked similar so yep 👍
Hello ! Im a therian and an angelkin , I haven't watched all of this yet but im sure it's useful ! But what type of yarn should i use ? I wanna use wool . And use a pet brush [thats what a lot of websites say to do when making gear .] But I'm only 11 so this might be a bit hard . I sadly couldn't buy a tail cause my mom said it's probably from a cruel fur farm . But I need to ask a few questions . 1# Is wool yarn safe too use when making the tail ? 2# Should I use a pet brush or a real brush . I think a pet brush will make it more fluffy! 3# And I don't have a belt so what should I use too put the tail on ? Like a key chain to connect it to clothing ? I'm sorry if this is a lot , but like I said I haven't finished the video so ...
Hi!! Sorry I didn’t see this sooner 🤍. But no the yarn has to be acrylic. Wool wouldn’t brush out and hold any fluff. It would just fall apart too much :). And the metal pet brush or one used to brush out Pom poms (they come in those kits) is needed to be brutal and rip the yarn to get the fluff. And as for putting it on if you have a keychain that would definitely work :) u could even just use a piece of rope or ribbon as a belt, slide the top of the tail through and wrap that around your waist. Or if what you’re wearing has a belt loop you can just clip it on that with any sort of a clip :) it’s very forgiving with what ya use to put on. And don’t worry it wasn’t a lot :) I’m happy to help you!!! 🤍
Thank you for sharing this awesome craft making your own tails out of yarn. Ill try make my self one yay now i wonder instead of acrylic is cotton yarn going to work the same way? Happy crafting!
When i tried brushing out the cotton yarn it all came apart.. Maybe I was just to rough with it. But the acrylic is the only one I found that didn’t totally turn to mess lol. And happy to share 🤍 have fun making your tail!! 🤍
If you get a tail from amazon, make sure its 100% faux fur, amazon tails that are real come from cruel fur farms. (Where they beat and abuse foxes then kill them for their tails and pelt)
I made a tail and a mask from SCRATCH like I used my fluffy blanket to make them and it took me FOREVER to make them and my parents don’t approve of me being a therian and they say me with my gear and told me they were gonna burn them if I keep being a therian so ya
I bet it turned out amazing!! And I’m sorry you have to deal with that…. Take it slow :) they’ll come around someday!! Just remember you’re perfect as you are 🤍
What about sliding a D ring between the split in yarn before you braid the base? So it’s braided into the base and you can add a clip to that? Might even be able to replace that knotted piece for the D ring.
@@katiecassidy94 that makes sense! I’m tempted to try but nervous on how long it’ll take. So much dedication to make one of those! Thank you for this video and your speedy replies!
It takes a few hours if you’re fast lol. But it’s worth it :). And you will need to make a few before you get a perfect one. So don’t be afraid to mess up!!! 🤍
Ive been tryig out so many different tail making methods and this one is def my favorite so far, thnak you so much for this tutorial i cant wait to sell some of these tails ive made with this tut :3
Thanks this was really helpful as I've been making a tail by making bundles brushing ghem out then sewing them on and it takes awhile but I'm going to try this way to see if it's quicker! ❤❤
4:16 the softness probably doesn’t depend on skill, but on the yarn itself. Different yarn dyes can have different effects to the same yarn’s texture, and some batches of yarn just come out softer. Great tutorial by the way!
walmart's redheart isnt as good as others for tails because the fibers are shorter and fall apart. its cleaner and fluffier to brush them before you attatch the tufts to the braid, that will also not let the braid get pulled through.
I’m sure there are better ones but to practice and learn with the red heart is the best price :). And thanks for the other option of brushing out!! :) Might try it one day!! :) 🤍
just a tip all the fluff that comes off when you brush you can use as stuffing like she had said but u can also use it for masks and things like that ❤
Hello!! 🤍🤍 I’m glad you’re able to make one. It’s more fun making it yourself anyways :). Can make it exactly how you need it to be 🤍. I’m super happy to hear you’re happy with your tail!! 🤍
Hey I rlly love your channel and I think you are so underrated you deserve so much more then me and ty for the tutorial bc I wanted to try a different technic on how to make a tail mine are rlly fluffy but not as fluffy as yours
It shooould be enough time. It really depends on how fast you are at the brushing :). But you guys should be able to get it totally done all in one go in 6 hours!! :) 🤍
for the people who don't have hooked things just take the strands brush them and take another piece of yarn and tie it and leave some of the yarn strands so you can tie to the tail
Thank you!! I’m glad you like it :)🤍. And this yarn on the tag says it’s a size 4 thickness but it didn’t seem accurate… seems thicker lol. But says it’s a four!!! It’s the red heart super saver :). Hope that helps you!! 🤍🤍
I use a like mini flat iron/hair straightener :). It being small makes it easier to work with. After using it on the tail when the “fur” is still warm I brush it again to smooth it then do the next piece :). Till all of it is done. Just make sure when you use the flat iron to be very careful. The yarn gets hot so don’t leave it in one spot for very long or it’ll burn :). 🤍
The unbraided stuff on the bottom? If that’s what you mean :) than no. You leave it and that will be the bottom of the tail. Just brush it out like the rest of the yarn you’ll put on :) 🤍🤍
would be able to use velvet yarn for this? i crochet plushies so i have a lot of velvet yarn and was wondering if that would work and possibly make the tail thicker/fluffier
Um…. I’m not sure.. If you were to brush it out that wouldn’t work. Cause the velvet bits would just pull out and you’d be left with a thin thread. But if you didn’t brush it and left it just the velvet yarn as is but cut short (whatever length you’d want the fur strands to be☺️) it might work. Would look pretty cool like that. Wouldn’t look like “fur” but would probably be really soft and cool looking!!
Hey, just wondering if there are any other yarns or way to get other yarns to work? I’m hesitant to use acrylic yarn because of the environmental impact of throwing away strands of plastic. Are you aware of any way to make other yarns fluff out like acrylic, and whether or not it’d be completely impossible to make a fluffy tail with a different type of yarn?
I completely understand that🤍. I keep meaning to try other types as well :) just haven’t got them yet!! lol. But I do know cotton (I’ve tried that one) doesn’t work whatsoever. It just completely falls apart sadly. I’m most hopeful for wool to work. So that would be my first choice to try :). Or maybe alpaca yarn too. Again I haven’t tried yet. But those are the ones that miiiiiight work :). Just know cotton doesn’t at all. Hope that’s helpful for you!! 🤍🤍
If you mean a different colored tail tip. Wherever you want the color to change add the different color on :) it’ll blend in just like the other color. Just make sure the braid/inside of the tail is the color you’re making the tip :) cause that’ll get brushed out too :). Hope that helps ya!!! 🤍
Hi!! Thank you so much!! 🤍 you probably could tie it on. Just might be lumpy? From the little knots. But I’m not sure…. Might be worth the try!!! It would take a reeeeaaally long time one at a time though… sorry not the best answer!! 🤍🤍
Not sure if this was mentioned as im still watching the video. But please, please, please! Wear a mask when making these types of tails, especially when brushing out the yarn! It could lead to something called 'Groomers Lung' is you don't!
It wasn’t!! Thank u for the info!! :) Not surprising considering how much of the acrylic yarn flies off… it’s a messy project that’s for sure. When your really brushing it out wearing a mask would be smart!! 🤍
Hi!! Oh… I’m not sure…. Maybe a very strong/stiff hair comb? I don’t know though for sure. Sorry!!! It just needs to be sturdy to be able to brush out the yarn 🤍
@@katiecassidy94 no like it is literally made of random pieces of yarn and it is missing some tufts. literally looks like it got ran over, but my second one looks alot better¯\_(ツ)_/¯(u were right the second one looks a ton better than the first) and also you make really good tails and this tutorial helped alot 💜
Ohhhh.. lol I get it now :). Well… least you’ll always know which one is you’re first!!!! :) and thank you so much. That means a lot 🤍 I’m happy to have been able to help!!! :)
The leftover on the bottom of the tail? Yes I brush that out first :) then I start adding the rest of the yarn. I found working from the bottom up seems to work the best. 🤍
That’s so frustrating!!! I’m sorry.. Sometimes it can be any reason. The brand of yarn or even just the different colors can make a huge difference in how in brushes out. I hope you’re able to get it to work soon!! Good luck 🤍🤍
@@katiecassidy94oh im re watching the video and I think I know where that brush is from! Have you ever tried to felt or do crafts with wool? They use those to mix two different colors so you can make new shades / colors
Lol so much comes off it’s scary. So that is normal :) but if all of it is. Make sure your yarn is 100% acrylic. And the yarn isn’t too long. It’ll break at a point no matter how long the yarn piece is. So longer it is means more comes off. That was annoying to learn.. but ya sooo much will come off and it is normal :) but very scary. Good luck 🤍🤍
I’m honestly not sure….. could try a small hair comb? It might not be strong enough and it may break though.. I’m sorry!!! Wish I had a better answer for you. 🤍🤍
Im a therian who’s nine and I’m so scared to ask my paresnts to buy one and they don’t sell those here but the do sell fur that’s fake but my parents will ask why I buy it and I have yarn that I use for crochet but I tried to make one of these with my sisters but it failed so I hope this one works and by the way ur voice is amazing and ur so pretty
You can put it on a belt loop with a carabiner clip. Or on a belt itself with the same type of clip. Or use a key ring style loop and use that to put it on :). I use the clip cause it’s easy to take on and off. And clip it on a “belt” literally just a piece of rope I tie around my waist. Lol. Hope that helps ya!!!
