I bought 20 foam pumpkins from Michaels but didn't like the plain orange look of them. Gave them a quick paint job and carved them out using my wood burning tool. I used a 1 watt flickering bulb inside them because it's low heat and I wanted the classic look of a candle inside a jack-o-lantern. I screwed the pumpkins to old pieces of 2 X 4s so I wouldn't damage my timber frame entrance too much. Simply added lots of branches, grasses, and an old coffin to fill out the display.
The cost of this project is approx $350 (CDN). I bought the pumpkins at 2 for 1, BUT... the price does go cheaper at 60% off later closer to October. At 50% off, it works out to be $20 each for large pumpkins and $13 for the smaller pumpkins.
