I've been studying constructing a marimba and discovered a great website at Delfords magic plan (check it out on google)

There are many components to doing a pro job. One place I discovered that successfully combines these is the Delfords Magic Plan (check it out on google) without a doubt the no.1 course that I've seen. look at this super website.

Mattheq 23 but if it's for kids then I don't want a bunch of kids calling a kazoo a harmonica. That insults the actual harmonicas and the makers and musicians of such instruments. That's like calling 2 sticks and a piece of wood a piano. It ain't right.

No, the principle isn't the same. This is a vibrating string/membrane. Harmonicas are free reed instruments.

Me, I play harmonica in a band, and I know lots of guys who play harmonica for a living, who win awards for their playing, and who have millions of RU-vid hits for their harmonica tutorials. I've taken harmonicas apart, swapped parts, tweaked reeds and read a lot about the principles of sound. I've even seen MRI images of someone playing the harmonica and how they shape their mouth to bend notes. I know Hohner endorsers, and Suzuki repairmen. I know people who make their living customizing harmonicas, who have patents involving harmonics (including patents that use magnets to change the vibrating speeds of the reeds). I've also played kazoo. This, this is a variation on the kazoo. This is not a harmonica. And I wouldn't care, but actually, at the very basic noise making level that this is at I think you could design a harmonica that would actually play the way a harmonica plays with not all that much more work than this. You'd need a few files and some metal strips... I'm bookmarking this. I'm going to see what we crazy harmonica players can come up with.
