In this tutorial I will be sharing with you how I successfully made a custom hat using my Cricut and heat press mini. I first measured my hat and created my saying in Cricut Design Space. Then cut my heat transfer vinyl (HTV) shiny side down. Next, I weeded my HTV. I rolled some towels to give my hat more support prior to applying my HTV. I preheated my heat press mini on medium heat (the second line). Once preheated I placed my HTV on my hat with parchment paper between my HTV and heat press. I pressed firmly all over for 25 seconds. I let me HTV cool before removing the carrier sheet. Then applied the second layer and pressed for 25 seconds. I do not recommend pressing from the back. I ended up smudging the HTV while trying to do this. If you make a mistake like I did. Heat from the back and take tweezers and pull off the HTV. I left the adhesive residue and re-cut my HTV. I repeated the process while omitting pressing from behind.
