Excellent jig! I had to get a large hole into a 5ft long bit of 2x2 a while back and had a miserable time trying to throw together something that worked. This is loads better, and shouldn't take ages to make, either. And yes, I have several old corded drills waiting for something useful to do...

The key has to fit the V-grooves, so it depends on how deeply you rout them, but typically 6-8mm.

Sorry, no. Millimetres are the international standard for length. But it's easy enough to convert. As a rule of thumb, 25mm is roughly equivalent 1", or if you want to be more precise, 25.4mm = 1". HTH.

Hi Steve super jig made one but having trouble boring with it as I had to use a lot of pressure to get the drill to bite. Do you recommend any particular type of drill for boring with it ?

Hi Nigel. I guess that the short answer is "A sharp one!" :). You do need to push quite hard, remember that a drill press is leveraged. And the bigger the drill the harder it will be. A couple of years ago I splashed out on a set of FAMAG drills. They cost an arm and a leg, but they are a joy to use. No regrets.

Hi steve! I enthusiastically saw the production of a tool for horizontal drilling. I've been going to make something similar for a long time. What I have seen so far have not been products that would appeal to me. But your jig is excellent! Therefore, I would like to ask you if I could get at least the basic dimensions of the individual components. If you have a whole production plan, or at least some drawings (even hand-drawn ones), I will be happy to buy it from you.
