I had this idea for quite some time and wondered why i havent seen anyone making it...
so I had to try...
and somehow it really works and keeps my drinks cold, if i get thirsty on the road :D
most parts where recycled like the can itself, the fans, the wood was waste i got from the hardwarestore for 1€, and so on....

This is a very cool project and very well built. Nicely done! However, I must point out that this is a thermodynamically poor design. Utilizing the fans to bring in air from the exterior will only cause the inside to get warmer. The cooler packs only have a finite amount of cooling power and you waste a lot of it trying to cool warm, outside air instead of continuing to cool the cold air already in the container. The reason coolers like Yeti and Artic are so effective is because they seal the inside contents from the outside therefore allowing the air inside to get cold from the ice and stay cold. The walls of these coolers are thick because they are vacuum sealed to limit the amount of heat transfer between the outside and inside air. This allows the ice (or cooler packs in your case) to continue cooling cold air rather than trying to bring fresh, warmer air down to temp. This design would work much better if you setup the fans to recirculate the air inside the jerry can instead of intake and exhaust. That way all of the air inside the can will interact with the cooler packs and result in more consistent and cooler temps. Really like the build quality of the project and hope to see more!

Thx man, and yeah I know that, that's y I said it's just a Thing 🤣 I didn't take it too serious and just wanted to do something new as I already made a regular bar like that. It was fun and still insires ppl. There could be more potential in that but that's for someone else to take, I'm going for new things I haven't tried 😁✌

Ferry nice done, only the door handle i dont like that, but the rest ferry ferry cool👍 The last few times you se manny of this on internet for sale $150, or more...i can not se so mutch money at material...but annyway a cool item to have.....thanks for share the video.

thx man, yeah i thaught so to... its easy to make and u can design it as u want it to be, as i said at the end it didnt cost me more than 30€

I know its time and work, but as you say mabey $30, or $50, when you ask than $100, thats a nice price, but a lot ask 2 times that.. Here in EU there is a hipe to make and sell this item.. But not only cans a lot of fire extinguishers to...I work now at the last one but not fore sale...

Yep i know im in germany, and when i see stuff like this i always think about the material cost and how i could do it myself... even better sometimes.... I never sell stuff i like having unique stuff and the satisfaction of making ;)

Do you have to trim the lid any smaller for the edge seal? Or does the blade thickness take enough out for the clearance?

Yes, I had to trim it a Lil bit for the seal to fit... mostly around the corners

Just curious why fans? Blowing warm air into the cooler and sucking cold air out?

still after the cooling pads wear out most of its power the airstream cools id down compared to the outside tep. like i said it works ;) at least for 3, 4h... after that its recomended to be drunk enough to not care

@@LeNerdarto So my BS meter is going off at that comment, case needs to be sealed and the fan can circulate the cool air around the case. Newton's law of cooling. Newton's law states that the rate of heat loss of a body is proportional to the difference in temperatures between the body and its surroundings while under the effects of a breeze. The constant of proportionality is the heat transfer coefficient. But Mr. B and you can't be wrong... so I am going to cut a hole in the door of my fridge and blow warm air from the house on the food and get back to you, lol

@@jasongobert4359 thx dude, like i said in the end of the video this is not perfectly engineered its just a thing i wannted to try and as im a thirsty person it works for me in most situations 🤣 Im not taking my things that serious, sharing ideas and geting inspired is the only time im using yt these days 😇
