Can’t thank you enough for this video! I made this as my first serious leather project and it turned out pretty well I think. That would t have happened without your video.
Your first ever leather project? That is amazing. I am so honoured that my pattern is your first. I am so grateful to Magnus for making such a high quality video featuring my design.
I've been using an airbrush for resolene since my kids got me an airbrush kit from Amazon for Christmas. All I can say is I've never had such great results with resolene. It goes on even with no streaking which is a problem I've always had when following the instructions on the bottle. What a difference, especially on larger pieces.
Nice! I love the safety skiver, and wanted to mention that you may get better results if, instead of holding the skiver perpendicular to the edge, you give it a steeper angle - more length of the blade encounters the leather at the same time, and makes uniform skiving easier.
I've made a few projects and I put highlighter ( cut 50/50 with water )on the tooling then dyed the back ground light brown. I'm sure its not the thing for every project but it looked pretty good. This project was a cool idea. Thank you. Always fun!
Nothing stopping you. Pay a visit to your nearest Tandy or independently owned leather craft supply store. Talk to the staff. Take a class. Youl be glad you did!
@@Songforyall fair enough. But I bet they have curbside pickup available. Ether way. The shutdown wont last forever. Meanwhile thank all the old gods that Magnus is here to keep us entertained with great videos!
When you put the paint on, was that a paint pen or a brush? Are the paint pens reloadable or just a one time use item? Beautiful box loved the design. Thanks, Clinton
Such beautiful work. I love working with my hands. This is a cool piece. I am going to try a modified version to carry my phone and speaker on my saddle. I have many pieces of leather that I have been trying to figure out what to make with it. I am new to your channel and LOVE IT! Great job and thank you!
Welcome back! Been wondering where you and Levi have been. I really like this project... I've come across a few "one piece" projects in the past year or so and they're great.
Make sure the beveler is sharp. Go slow. Be patient. It will come. Everything does with practice. Check my channel for tips on how to sharpen your beveler.

Hello, is it possible to order/ buy 1 small leather bag with métal clasp like the one you made in your vidéo ? I would like to offer 1 for my daughter, If however it is possible because I unfortunately did not see it in your shop. If it is not possible for you to order / buy 1, can you tell me or we can order 1, Please thank you in advance for your response. Cordially.
Would have to REALLY go deep with the V gouge and skiving and Magnus'trick with Vgouging as well as skiving the tabs would probably be a Must on that thick. But it could work. Also the gap in the corner under the tab might be needing to be bigger on thicker leather. But I'm not positive. Play with it and find out. Let us know what you get!
No , need, I tried with the 4-5 oz leather first, after dying, resist, antiquing and finishing, it was way stiffer, I couldn’t imagine trying this with 10 oz.
I sell a couple of armor items to the public, but otherwise I stick to patterns and art. I work in the film industry building props and costumes and have little to no interest in ever making something twice. I don't find it fun or challenging. So with RU-vid I get to make something once and then move on to fun and exciting new projects, just like film.
You can easily switch that up. I like the 0.8mm Ritza Tiger Thread myself. But I've also used the 1.1 mm waxed braided nylon line from Tandy. Both work well on this pattern.
