In this video, Daniel Reach shows us how to create a simple dreamcatcher that we can use to decorate our home or gift to friends and family. For an elevated yet rustic look, Daniel wraps his dreamcatcher with leather deerskin lace. Add your feathers and beads of choice for a totally unique piece of art!

When you work in even numbers, balance or symmetric is extremely important, even a fraction off will effect the look. Where as an odd number of a feature, is more forgiving and lends to eye movement, when viewing a piece.

Daniel I cant quite tell..are you placing the feathers into the top bead or just putting it close to it?

If the feather tips fit up inside the bead that works the best but if not, tucking it up in close to the bead works fine as well! Some of them it worked and some didn't and you really can't tell on the finished product.

FYI: The knot used by Daniel is called a "half hitch".

If Weaver loses Chuck, I'm out...! 🤙🏼

We have no plans for that - producing more than one video a week is just too much for one person so this give Chuck more time to create!

Please excuse me for mentioning this, but I have been taught that a non-indigenous person making dreamcatchers and selling them is cultural appropriation. A non-indigenous person making one for themselves and using it in a way that honours the legacy of dreamcatchers in Aboriginal culture is fine. These items are not "decoration" however. There are many fine articles online for anyone who wishes to know more about dreamcatchers in Aboriginal culture. For the record I am a Metis person who was put up for adoption and was raised white. I have been learning about my ancestry for the past decade.

If the leather companies didnt embrace the rise in prices, we could affford to buy their products with ever increasing prices. A pack of rivets was just slapped back on the hook because they wanted $25.00 for rivets. I can't afford to get screwed at the leather stores, especially with the socialist pricing. Time to sell my leather working tools and persue a reasonable priced business to start.
