@@OdinMakes I agree, I love that he ACTUALLY made the hilt out of wood, there are some prop makers who would just use like PVC or all foam and just made it to look like wood. Not you though, I feel like you would have nailed this as well!

I find that a wooden lightsaber hilt is rather interesting. I remember the Ewoks from Endor. For me a lightsaber hilt made from the wood of an Endor Skytree. Also a purple Kyber Crystal for the blade.

Ah yes, the whittling technique. That’s how I used to do things back when I made EVERYTHING out of wood. I don’t know what was more annoying; the whittling, or finding wood chips in my workspace for weeks to come.

You could just chuck a drill bit into the end of the saber to make it a lathe. Odin did that in a video once.

Ok no joke but a few months ago in school I was doing woodwork and the coping saws napped the wood while cutting and the blade dug about 1/3 through my finger. I’m ok now and I was mostly ok then, the only ones that wreaked out about me doing that was my teacher and desk-mates. I wasn’t really phased, I just put the saw away and grabbed a tissue.

I have created the commando droid thighs, and the legs aren’t too complicated they’re just like the battle droid, however I have trying to find away to get the hip joints to work and make them look accurate to the show/ games they appear in. Figure out how to do that with the neck and shoulders joints, but the hips are completely different, I guess I could try my designs for the neck joint but make it more mobile, but I don’t feel like it would be able to hold the body up.

+1 - cover the dowel with painter's tape for patterning... +1+ - you have a drill and rotary tool, RU-vid search for drill/Dremel lathe... It's the poor man's lathe!
