Update to my hedge. I told you 2 years ago I did this for a privacy hedge. I can not believe how good it turned out!! They are in full sun for about 6 hours a day and in just this short period they are gigantic! About 8 feet tall in a little over 2 years. This hydrangea loves the sun unlike the mop head variety.

Hi Roxanna, thanks for the video? How many hydrangeas did you plant and what was the spacing? I have about the same distance on one side of my front yard, maybe a little longer like all the way to your sidewalk. My neighbors are nice people but they can be a little paranoid about strangers in the neighborhood so when I have visitors, they’re always looking out their windows. They do it to make sure everyone’s safe, but it’s annoying.

I bought my Dad SEVEN 3-gallon limelight hydrangeas last year for his country house with plenty of room to flourish. I packed them up, was driving to his home and he called to say, "I've changed my mind, I'm too old to water new shrubs everyday!" He said to keep them. So, I planted a rounded hedge on the side of my front yard. They were about 3 feet tall last year and strangers were stopping by to compliment and to ask me about them! This is year 2, it's late April, and they have already flourished out to the height they were last year. I'm eagerly awaiting the first signs of new blooms! I can't wait!!! If they turn out to be as beautiful as yours I will consider myself blessed!!!🤗

Do limelights stay white and green and then just dry up to brown or do they change to pink before turning brown?
@SoilandMargaritas

I have mine in Zone 5 in full sun, they amount of pink is barely there before they turn brown... but I have seen others with the same variety having the pink stay a lot longer and more emphasized! I suppose it depends on climate and amount of sun.

Hello! You only get the "blooms" in the summer, the hydrangeas start leafing out in the spring, and I choose to leave the blooms until the next spring because they look so beautiful in brown, if you see the pic at 5:25 you still them in full in October, and by mid November when the leaves start falling off, I get that lovely look and even better when they get covered in the snow :)

Great garden!! It looks so beautiful. I just discovered Limelights and they are the perfect border plant. I honestly don't understand why I don't see them more often but you know what? I can't be too mad at that! My yard will be the star of the neighborhood. 😉 I put two Limelights in to fill out a short bare dirt strip beside the garage on the south facing side. It's so hard to find plants that won't burn up in the full Florida sun. The hedges will be the first thing that folks will see when they drive by. I'm also thinking about placing some along our other property line and crafting a nice mid-ground garden in front of them. I'm so excited to see how they do! Thank you for the inspiration!!

Oh, lovely! I just purchased 4. I'm thinking of planting between mine and my neighbors yard. Are you happy w/ them 4 feet apart now that they are established. How is your experience w/ pruning and overall size? I'm concerned they are too large for my spot. I am also in zone 5. Please let me know how they are doing. Thanks!
