I did something like this with an antique mirror candelabra. I took out the mirror and put the succulents in that area. Thanks for sharing ☺️👍❤️.

will be perfect as long as they dont grow any larger in size. i spread mine apart personally. Then place fake moss in between so the plants can grow properly. otherwise they will crowd and youll have to rearrange them. i make mine using large old painting frames i get for cheap from good will.

Awesome video! I have a question about the drainage. Since the box is made of wood (though the landscaping fabric is semipermeable), how does the water drain without rotting the roots? Thanks!

nutterxue You should measure and water carefully while the frame is in its early phase, waiting for the roots to grow out. We let it sit for over a week without water. Once it's good enough to hang, you can water it normally, them tip it up and let the water drain out the bottom before hanging.

Hi, very informative video! Should I cover the frame with some plastic? In case of damage on wood.. And can I use sphagnum moss instead soil? In this case, how long succulents living in this condition?

how do you hang it without all the soil spilling out/the hinge opening?

Hi Michael, our picture frame kit has a magnetic door that stays closed for the most part. If you want to permanently seal the succulents in place, you can drive a small nail into the frame and stick it to the box below. After a few waterings, the roots will grow out and keep the soil in place. Just make sure to never turn the frame upside down so tht the succulents/soil fall out.

I would assume you can use landscape fabric, it will keep soil from escaping. Though I would have left the fabric whole, filled with soil and then wrapped it around the top of the soil and poked holes where the plants go.
