How to make a manifold - Part 1 Merge Collector 

Well cool! I’ve just welded my mercedes clk 270CDI exhaust as it leaves the turbo it hits the particulate filter. So I removed the domed flange from the EPF and using the body of it. I made a conical expansion chamber in place of the EPF. This then allows the turbo to spool up faster from 15/16 hundred RPM to around 1400 RPM. Also it reduces the amount of stress on the piston as it moves up on the exhaust stroke. Creating a scavenging effect! And lowering EGT’s. Thus improving gas flow and power. Gail Banks was the source of that idea! He’s got his own channel here!ha banks destroying a duramax diesel! And holds numerous world records for racing diesel turbocharged racers etc! Love the manifold bud!! Looks awesome 👍can’t wait to see it’s finished.

You think 1-1/2" dia., 16 gage mandrel bent 304 SS elbows will hold up for a T3/T4 setup? I cant get thicker materials as 2 sets of my exhaust ports are too close to each other.

What offset did you use and how did you set the cut up? It’s the one piece of info that’s always left out. Great video otherwise 👌
