How to make a metal sliding door

To be very honest this type of video has been shot by me before....I make metal doors in my shop and I make them all of the time, so I figured this time I would shoot it a little different than the last and cut out a lot of my talking and instead just did a view text images explaining what was happening.
This was a back burner stand by video if I didn't get my other video completed in time for my Friday drop day. So hopefully you won't hate it too much and let me make it up to you in the next video.

I like the star burst design. What about using something else for the center, maybe something like stain glass or something that creates a prism affect. ...of course light is needed lol. Love your videos and creativity.

Love this project & your whole channel!🤘 How’d you clean the door after you applied the vinegar & allowed it to rust?

I apply a clear coat over the rust which makes it easier to clean

Artfully Rogue Thanks for the reply. Maybe I should’ve phrased this differently. I was wondering what your process was to clean the vinegar off the sheet metal after the rust has formed. I’ve tried this on smaller pieces and it seems like half of my rust is washed away with the vinegar. Or does that mean I haven’t let it set up long enough?

Ah gotcha! When I apply it, I spray it on and usually place another piece of sheet metal on top (vinegar between the two sheets) and I let it sit for at least a day or two. The warmer the steel the better, so in summer when my shop is hotter, it creates some great rust in a couple days. In winter it take 3 or 4 days.

What gauge is the sheet steel? Your cutting shears cut through it so easily. The door is beautiful.

It's a 20g sheet. You can shear 18g but it's a little tougher on the blades

Thanks for the reply. I'm preparing to make 2 sliding steel doors for my son's house and it's totally inspired by your work and videos. I might need to get some shears like that.

@kpannabecker yeah it's super useful and the one in the video was purchased at harbor freight and has worked good for years. Only need to change the blade every now and again

I use a spray on clear lacquer on the metal.
