2 things Instead of measuring 12x15mm you could also lay the micro on top and trace it. Also, if careful enough, one could simply cut the micro out of the macro card and the remaining border could be used as the micro-sim adapter.
This guy makes it looks really difficult - no need to do all that measuring, you don't need a ruler or a scalpel - just cut the plastic away with scissors so the chip card fits into the micro sim slot - worked for me!!
It doesn't matter what operating system your phone runs, it'll take any sort of SIM card, you just need to be sure you have the correct sized SIM card for the job. The iPhone 5 uses the smallest size called a nanoSIM, most of the latest smartphones use the slightly larger microSIM card size and older and more affordable handsets use miniSIMs.
Thank you for telling the dimension of the miroSIM. Could you also tell how much to cut off each side of a regular SIM? I have watched several how-to vids since Chrismas and your instructions are the closest I come to getting the info I need.
It's a useful video. However, I would advice, mark the lines along with the template over the SIM, could give you an exact guide to cut the SIM in a better way. Because after you cut two sides we lost the template lines..... ;) Cool...!!
I dont know about other country, but in Malaysia, go to your network provider & they will cut your SIM card for u, FREE. just a few minutes time, no need to wait for replacement, SIM card cutter r really common now.
I was so crush when i found out that i need a micro sim card for my new nexus 4! I was very reluctant on trying this method but I did! it took me over 40 minutes lol but its soo worth it hahah!
This will not work with older 1st Generation Issue Mini SIM cards as the gold foil contact sheet covering the chip is much larger than what is being used nowadays.
You can print out a scale template of a microSIM card from images online as an alternative if you don't have an actually microSIM card to refer to. Good luck!
Go to your ISP office and trade SIM cards. Mobily and STC do not charge anything and they have many offices (Saudi Arabia). I did the same with AT&T in USA.
+Puji Zeidel some mobile or electronic stores may do it for you for free or for a small price. My mother had her sim trimmed for free at a mobile store. Hope that helps.
make sure you sand the edges (on carpet if you do not have a sandpaper) else it may get stuck in the slot due to rough edges. in fact you can do the whole cutting part on carpet much faster, smoother and cleaner looking sim.
Nowadays Sim Cards has 3 sizes Nano,Micro,Standard to fit whatever what your phone takes In 2016 mobile network made them more easily to pop out the one you need instead of cutting or making damages that can ruin the sim
Would like to know the answer to this as well. Does T-Mobile provide a micro version of your current SIM card upon request? Does anyone have any experience with this?
i tried this with a rather old sim, which apparently had a chip/dye size the same size as a micro sim itself. yes i did use a micro sim as template so i didnt just cut it too small. but needles to say this resulted in my just ruining my sim. luckily i already have a new one from my new subcribtion, only this one isnt activated yet. guess i'll just have to wait a bit.
+Parasectesque just look up the dimensions, and pencil them in on your regular SIM card. it might end up being cleaner than this guys method if you do a good enough job.
is it new sim technology, or just the new way for the phone makers to get money out of users? we mean is it all new generation of phones etc... our sim cards here U.S.A. we have not noticed a change in size, but we don't have that kind of phone, we have a motorola flip phone, just asking because we may have missed why you need a micro sim.
I had to get a card from Orange cause the big one in my experia j would not fit my iPhone or galaxy s4 sim cost a tenner and you are quite correct in saying the phone companies just want to rip us off all the time
But how? How do we put this cutted sim card back to ma normal old phone :( coz I use 2 phones at a time.. and I keep switching my 2 sim cards between the 2 phones. ???
Provided the gold contacts aren't too big, you should be able to trim your SIM without trouble. Older SIM cards tend to use larger chips, making it harder, or in some cases impossible to trim it down.
FREAK!!! Dude u r awesome........the projection i mean measurement that u gave is awesome :D ............ i did not used any micro SIM to cut i just did dat watching ur video by taking HELP of ur measurement dats is 15 and 12 mm and by sum judgement .......... i thought for sumtime dat i will fail but it was awesome RISk dat i took and "SUCCESS" ........
I only have ~100 contacts that I'll lose forever if I blow this process. (actually I think they're stored on the old phone but... I'm not sure) Edit: It worked! Thanks a lot!
