Shout out to Linda for doing all this demonstration while standing up for so long. It is not easy to sew and curl and all of that while standing up and trying to talk about the process at the same time. That’s multitasking! Would it make sense to do a curved seam across the wig cap, from ear to ear, to reduce all the wrinkling in the cap? Sort of the way seamed bra cups are constructed. I think I would also prepare my part hair first, and perhaps sandwich a thin sheet of paper tissue between the wefts. This would keep them nicely separated, and would aid in pressing the seam open. If it’s a double layer of tissue, you could use the paper itself to hold the seam open, and the act of ironing the seam open would weaken the paper enough that it should remove cleanly, I would imagine. I do a lot of hairstyling on fashion dolls, and I use nylon tulle instead of perm endpapers as my endpaper for forming curls. I encapsulate the hair to be curled in a tulle sleeve, then use a metal hair clip to roll the tulle and hair into a curl. I like the metal clips that are the curved bird-beak type for this process. For really tiny curls, I’ll use a hairpin as a curling wand. I roll the hair all the way to the scalp and use a dressmaker’s pin to secure the curled section in place, either with the metal clip or hairpin still in place, or just the rolled tulle. It depends on how tightly defined I want the curl to be. Sometimes I will leave a longer section of tulle at the end of the curl, so that as it is rolled up, it forms a cushion that keeps the end of the curl from being too tightly curled. It’s basically creating a roller of whatever size is needed.

The patience! Not sure if I would pulled my own hair out I have been dressing and restoring half dolls . Its really working small scale . I have 2 mohair wigged halfdolls. What could I use for the curlers? There so small. Dolls are about 3 inches to there waist. Maybe wooden dowels or shish kabob sticks?

I was taught always start from the ends of your hair and little by little work it to the top, so less breakage. Is it not so for mohair .....
@nalayat2050
@nalayat2050 Год назад
easier to comb starting at the hair ends and work your way up. instead of folding up the buckram, keep it unfolded until it dries. while still on the head, sketch in a hairline. cut away the excess then run a straight machine stitch along the edge(1/8" or 1/4" from the edge) to strenghten the edge and keep it from getting out of shape. if there is a lot of excess buckram, you can cut into it and overlap it. this helps eliminate some of the bulk or ridges. once dry, you can also machine stitch along the over lapped areas. if you are getting lots of folds in a certain area, move the buckram so it is on the bias in that area. pull the buckram down to smooth it out. you will get less(if any) folds and ridges. personally, they way it was handled, i don't understand why buckram(wet and shape) was used. muslin or something similar would have worked just as well with a few nips and tucks. there is always more than one way of doing something. just my 2 cents worth.
