you mentioned at the end to have a NARROW vessel for reed diffusers, I've never seen the jar and lid being used as a vessel before. I would love to purchase for my collection but not sure if it will be ineffective to use a jar vessel in terms of aroma longevity.

Why should we fill the vessel only halfway? Will the scent throw be stronger that way or is there a different reason?

You actually don't need that much base. The amount of base doesn't effect the throw. It's just a best practice to avoid spills etc. :)

Looking online, its just safflower or canola oil and alcohol, (95%). Super cheap and easy to make at home. No wonder theyre so secretive about it. Lol

I want to make sure that I'm understanding correctly. 1. You fill the vessel jar halfway to find out how many ounces of base to use. 2. Write down the weight of the liquid base needed in fluid ounces. 3. Calculate 20-40% of your base liquid load to get your fragrance load (using weight in ounces). For example: You used 7 ounces of base liquid, and then you took 25% of it to get your fragrance load of 1.75 ounces ( you didn't mention the fragrance load amount). Math calculation: 7 x 0.25 = 1.75 ounces fragrance 4. Once you have fragrance amount, mix it with the diffuser base and voila! Is this correct?

Im confused.. So would it be 7ounces base PLUS 1,75 ounces of FO? OR its 7-1,75, so total diffusor liquid of 7 ounces meaning 5,25 ounces BASE and 1,75 FO?

Its simple math. She said shes using 7 oz total liquid and 25% of that total is the oil. So thats 1.75 oz oil to 5.25oz base.

Happy to help! Here she is using 7 oz total liquid which is approx 207 ml. The break down would be 25% of 7 oz is 1.75 oz or 53 ml of fragrance to 5.25 oz or 155 ml of base! Hope that helps!

@@makesyofficial This is only 10% and not the 20-25% recommended in the video. 10ml of fragrance, to 90ml of base in a 100ml formula is 10%? If Alicia wanted to up her fg load to 25% would it be 25ml of fragrance to 75ml of base? We recommend pre-mixing the base and fragrance and bottling it in a sealed bottle. When customers receive, they can pour the mixture into their holder and add the reeds :)

It'd be extremely unlikely to produce 0 VOCs. It may be a low number, but 0? We live in painted houses full of carpet, we don't need zero anyway. It's probably just synthetic vegetable glycerin. Remember, in marketing it is 100% okay to say anything you want and use words like "natural" and "healthy" as well as make statements regarding the efficacy of your product with absolutely no evidence or testing to back it up. You can literally say anything you want and its up to us to believe you. Don't believe them unless they release test results from independent labs.

@@makesyofficial essential oils should be more potent than a fragrance oil (which is a blend of e.o. and fragrance diluted in a carrier oil) so how is the formula the same? I rather use essential oils and the natural diffuser base, but it is not cost effective to use that much e.o.!

@@onemd82 I don't think these dimwits know what they are doing. You are CORRECT. Essential oils do not even have the same chemical properties as Fragrance oils so why would they recommend using the same amount? I would think less and most calculators have a different amount when using EO versus Fragrance oils.

Thanks for reaching out! Typically an average of 40% is safe but we do always recommend going to the IFRA to confirm for each fragrance. In this particular recipe with this particular fragrance we used 20-25%. Hope that helps!

Hi there! It can be, as long as your electric diffuser is capable of diffusing a more viscous liquid than water. Many electric diffusers use water as the carrier / base.

What is the difference between making diffusers using a BASE or using (Isopropyl Alcohol and DEB (DENATURED ETHANOL).

The VOC content :) Would not recommend using alcohol for reed diffusers as they have a higher VOC content, evaporate much more quickly, and can alter the smell.
