PATTERN TUTORIAL MCCALL'S 7513 PART 1 - Make a trendy peplum jacket!
When you start sewing, jackets will be one of the hardest things you'll learn to make. That's why we've made a video explaining every step for sewing this fancy blazer/jacket. I go into detail on how to do the hardest steps, like sewing the sleeves, buttonholes and all the finishing touches.

I bought this pattern and the fabrics for my make nine plans last year and never got around to making it. This is a really helpful sew along and I’ve picked up the top about matching seams. Thanks 🙂

You are a sweetheart. I just discovered your channel and subscribed. I can see that you really want someone to learn how to make these patterns successfully as your instructions are detailed and clear visually. I love your taste in clothes---style, fabrics, colours, etc.

I love your dart tip! I've tried a lot of ways to mark darts, and I pretty much hate them all! This way looks pretty easy!

I'm blushing ;D I like making darts like this because it uses minimal materials and it's easy

Same here! I searched all day through books trying to figure the collar out- your video did more than any book ever did! I now have a completed jacket after only a half days work (minus the buttons- still can’t decide on those!) thank you!

@@KK7THK I think notched collars like this one can be tough, but now that you know what to do you can repeat it :)

How long did it take you to make this jacket? I bought this pattern and I'm trying to see if I can sew it in under 2 months 😱
@PrimaDressmaker
@PrimaDressmaker 6 лет назад
Alyssa Rose I made this in about a month, working for a few hours a day up to 4 days a week. I also gilmed at the same time which would have slowed me down. Try to do a seam or two every day and you'll get there!

Nice tutorial but I wish she used the iron through out the steps
@PrimaDressmaker
@PrimaDressmaker 4 года назад
I leave out alot of the ironing because it's very repetitive and takes too much time. Technically, every seam should be ironed straight after sewing.

Hi! I wanted to make this jacket for this show I'm in, but my outfit has to be all silver. Do you happen to know like a good fabric I could use that comes in silver and would be effective?
@PrimaDressmaker
@PrimaDressmaker 3 года назад
I suggest trying a sliver brocade. A heavy silver satin might also work
@aftertonightjazz

great video! thanks! how many hours did it take from start to finish?
@PrimaDressmaker
@PrimaDressmaker 6 лет назад
The filming itself probably took around 60 hours, but that's including camera work and multiple shooting. You could probably make this jacket in around 15-20 hours. It can be time consuming due to the hand sewing. Hope this helps!

Do you iron your pattern pieces first?
@PrimaDressmaker
@PrimaDressmaker 4 года назад
Generally yes. I use the lowest setting on the iron.

Does anyone else find the pattern to have an absolutely tiny waist whilst still having far to much bulk around the shoulders and back?
@PrimaDressmaker
@PrimaDressmaker 4 года назад
Yes i found the waist to be very fitted compared to other McCall's jackets. Maybe you're not supposed to wear too many layers under it? I didn't have issues with the shoulders though.
@KK7THK

During the trial before I added the peplum, I wondered the same thing. I’m not used to such fitted items, but it wasn’t too terrible. (Then again, I had to severely modify the pattern to fit me in the first place- next time I’ll be a little more generous!)
