I love all of your tutorials and look forward to seeing more. I am a new sewer and decided to give place mats a try since ours were needing to be replaced. With your wonderful video I was able to make some beautiful place mats that folks think I bought at a store! I've also made pot holders using your video which have turned out beautifully. I love sewing things for the home so can't wait to see more videos from you for home decor items.
The best tutorial on placemat, straight to the point and very clear! thank you so much ! I made table runner and placemat following your tutorial, excellent results!
your videos are the best I have found. Easy for me to follow. My fav are the self binding napkins and place mats. Over 176 napkins for Xmas and birthday gits. on to place mats now for a select few. Thank you
Thank you so much, what an easy placemat to make. The tutorial instructions are so clear, now Im going to make all my placemats. Thank you again, all the way Cape Town, South Africa
Thanks Terry. You're such a great teacher. . I reupolstered my dining room chairs and I am going to make place mats with the leftover materials and can't wait to get them done.
I am also going to try this way to make placemats, although I do a lot of them and use thin batting, I haven't done one this way. I see in the pic you are doing the napkins, placemats and potholders all this way and it looks really interesting. Going to try this soon. Janet
Hi, I just love the way u explain so perfectly, the only change I made was to iron on a medium weight iron on interfacing to the back before I started, and it worked perfectlyand not as stiff as what u used.Thank you soooo much.PENNI
I love your clear and precise directions in your videos. They're so easy to follow. I'm wondering about the extra stiff interfacing...does it wash well or does the fabric wrinkle after it's washed?
Paula Deebach It does wash very well. The key is not to dry it in a dryer, hang to dry. If you do see some wrinkling use your iron and press them out as needed even at a later date.
I just watched this video and was wondering if this method could applied to a quilted placemat top? Though it may have a few extra steps, I think it is an easier way to get the mitered corners. Would it be too bulky to sew with having batting instead of the fusible interface?
Georgette Jane The pins are called flat head or flower head pins. We sell them here in our store. We would be happy to send you some call us at 605-347-2235. They are not on our online store at this time.
Oi Adorei seu tutorial! Bordas lindas! Porém não dá pra ver como é costurado , até onde vai a costura. Estou assistindo há horas e não consigo entender . Né ajude! Obrigada
So, can I use Pello Décor Bond applied to both sides of the fabric BEFORE sewing them together? I just don't think I could get mine cut to the exact size.
I have 4 hot pepper fabrics that we carry in fat quarters, however the fabric in the video is sold out. I would be happy to email or message you a picture of what we have. Thanks!
I really enjoyed how you went through the design step by step it makes reproducing it much easier. I've made the napkins from your other video already. I noticed that you didn't give the total yardage needed for this one.....what's the simplest way for me to calculate that?
The total measurements are Center fabric use 1/3 yard makes 2 place mats, Back fabric 1/2 yard makes 2 place mats, Interfacing 1/2 yard makes 2 place mats. Use these numbers to figure total yardage based on how many place mats you are going to make. Hope this helps.
Where can we find the small ruler that you were using. I have a couple of bigger square ones, but have seen the small ruler you were using. That place mat is adorable, and looks fairly simple to make, or at least it looks simple to make. Your tutorial was easy to understand, and thank you for speaking at a volume, where I don't to turn my volume up, or struggle to understand what you are saying. :-)
Thank you. We have a few rulers on our website. We no longer carry the one she used on this video, but hopefully one of the other ones will work. Here is a link to our notions page: www.junctionfabric.com/shop/Notions.htm
Pam, if it doesn't lay flat, it was probably sewn the wrong direction. If that isn't the issue, we may ask you for a picture so we can understand your question better.
I tired to go to your store & my browser gave me the error message that 'this web page is not configured properly' & wouldn't open the page. Don't know what is wrong, if my browser or your page.
Hi! Thx for sending me the link. I did work for me. I guess it is just the link from google that didn't work. I was able to access your store with no problem. :)
The enter face is called Insula-bright and you can order it from JunctionFabric.com at this link: junctionfabric.com/store/index.php?cPath=304_844 It is to my shop and we will be happy to take the order.
