I've had my Stanley V-Groove saw horses for a year or so now (gift from my father-in-law). I use them a lot, for everything from painting windows, through to improvised work bench when I'm on site with my day job.
The problem with them is that they can be a bit unstable when you're routing or planing a piece of timber. So I decided to create a super structure that would make them more stable.
I came up with a plan for how to make my folding work bench and then realised I had been beaten to it. Here's a link to the original idea goo.gl/YPXQPb which I thought I should give credit for in my video as his design and mine are very similar :)
So I went off to my local timber merchants, and picked up two 2.4m lengths of CLS timber and a sheet of 18mm thick exterior plywood - which I had cut at the timber merchants 900mm in from the edge straight down the middle.
I cut two V grooves in the timber, slotted them down onto the saw horses and then screwed the 18mm plywood down onto the CLS timber struts to create an incredibly sturdy, strong work bench.
NOTE:my work bench top at 2.400mm x 900mm is quite heavy, so if you're making one of these, give some careful thought to the size you're going to make yours - both in terms of:
1) what size you need it to accommodate the things you're cutting;
2) whether you're going to be able to move it around easily; and
3) whether you've got anywhere that you can easily store it.
