I do a lot of model railroading into a lot of roads and everything and I had built NASCAR tracks for some of model railroads I had found it very useful to use like a medium grid of sandpaper I glue the same paper to the wood and then I paint it took like to track. If you have cracks on the track you can use a Dremel on the wood before you apply to sandpaper to imply cracking and then you can use like a thank rubberized cement to fill the crack on a sandpaper and paint it black as if it was tar
Love the end song! And a great video. This is really useful, as I'm coming up on building my first ever banked track, so I'm particularly interested in how to make banking. The difficulty obviously comes in making sure the cars don't end up rolling down the banking and such. I've always wondered, why not banking around the whole track, Dover style?
hey acs your tracks are cool but mine isn't cool beacuse its is just short and if the leader pulls away from the pack it reaches the last cars and my walls are just paper and don't have the yellow line yet but I have sits for the fans and also safety car tow truck ambulance and I have trees and oh yeah the walls are just formed by squares but not cutted by squares I have pits but just made out of boxes and i don't have nascar cars yet oh yeah were do you buy nascar cars acs?
If instead of painting the grass you could use grass that comes in a roll but you can buy at hobby stores like Hobby Lobby or Michaels . The grass is detailed and Design for model railroading I found HO scale is the closest to 1:64 scale Hot Wheels
Hey Geno, one thing that I did to stop the card from rolling was cut up some old playing cards and tape them to the bottom. They work really well for what I use them for. I don't know how well they will do with that big of banking.

What if I want to make that, except make it a little bigger? Would that make a little bit of a difference? Like whatever the size of the plywood would be, except add a few more inches on the width and the length, and make the track a little bit bigger. Would that be a good idea for me to do when I make the track? u know, like making more pit boxes for pit road, making the grandstands from turn 4 to turn 1. the plywood bigger the size so there would be some room for the grandstands. i want to make it like the actual thing
When we filmed Bristol we put tape on the bottom of the cars. That might not work with that track because it could destroy the paint job. Just a suggestion. Great job btw! Also, whats the name of that song in your Intro?
