Turn signal circuits are often an area of trouble for technicians. In all cases, the turn signal switch is also in charge of the hazard lights and to make matters worse, the hazard and the turn signal switch is often a separate unit. Here in this section, we'll not concentrate on the hazard switch, but simply explain how to wire the entire turn signal system. The idea is to offer a way to make the turn signals operational if you have no parts available, due to the vehicle being out of the parts market, being too rare or just due to the high costs. In actuality, this wiring arrangement can be used even if you have no turn signal switch, which would then be substituted using standard buttons or flip switches.
This circuit also employs a regular flasher unit right at the 12 volt input. The flasher unit feeds both relays. This is done for the sake of efficiency and to reduce costs. The only drawback to using one flasher is that whenever the hazard is activated, the lights will flash at a faster rate.
