I had a couple singular small birdhouse and a squirrel nesting box on my property in the burbs of western Washington. It took several years before the chickadees adopted the birdhouses and closer to 15 years before a squirrel had a family in the squirrel box. I had given up on it.
I put up an owl box 4 yrs ago and have had no luck with owls but for the last 3 yrs i have had wood ducks. Good luck i hope you get a nesting pair of owls.
I’d be thrilled with wood ducks. I was just looking at it today. No signs of occupation yet. I did discover a nesting mourning dove near it. I put a trial camera on it. Looking forward to seeing that footage.
I’ve heard that birds don’t necessarily want a bigger house because it’s more space to keep clean, and harder to keep warm. That being said, I hope you get some screech owls because they are cool birds! I would love to build an owl house but it would probably be pointless as I live in a city... Great video, Larry!
