Watch Paul from Saw Frame Studios make a simple locket that would be easy to achieve with modest jewellery skills at home. listen as he gives a voice over explanation of what he is doing and why.
Using just basic tools Paul cuts, files, solders, rivets, oxidises and polishes a hollow locket that looks awesome and is always an item that customers look for. Lockets are used for storing pictures of loved ones, pet portraits, "a lock of hair" from someone special or a top secret password.
This will be the first video in a series of videos about making lockets and other hollow jewellery forms. if you think you would be interested in seeing more SUBSCRIBE so you can see new videos being released.

Fantastic stuff! Always such a good teacher. I like your "pickle" and "water" jars. Must break out my Cricut to label up my bench!

Beautiful and simple locket with quality engineering. Love this tutorial! I may share it with my students as an example of how to fabricate a locket.

@@theschoolofjewelleryireland absolutely. I was actually starting to plan out a new piece to start next week and was thinking an Alice in Wonderland inspired locket. Or, at some point anyway. When I'm at that stage. By have some ideas :)

This was lovely to watch and I learned a lot - that doming/ plier trick from the tube rivet is genius... I have to be mindful of noise too. Could you tell me what the name of the flattening tool was near the start?
@theschoolofjewelleryireland
Aw thanks so much for your kind words. The tool I used is an engine valve from a car engine they are often used as they are super flat and transfer the tapping directly down onto what you are flattening, if you manage to get one cut the stem a bit shorter as they are long and that can make them a little wobbly much more easier get a stable tap on the shorter length.
